Shoedish is learning to breathe. It’s only our first full week here in Espana and already shoedish has released a weight. I am the eternal internalizer and because of this I have minor meltdowns on occasion. A mentor once told me to “breathe and you too shall inspire” and for the first time I really think that I know what that means. To stop and breathe…
In honor of my realization I decided it was only right that I post some leisure shoes. It may be too early for flip flops, but we feel like it’s a casual kind of day. Enjoy!!

Looks like Crocs is the Google of shoes!! Coming off of a successful year, Crocs isn’t settling in any time soon, they’re setting up for yet another explosive year. Crocs has been chasing demand in their Asian and European markets since October, and though this caused stocks to plummet, it only shows how in demand these styles truly are. With a new store in Hawaii and another one set to open in Soho mid year, expansion of their new high-end women’s line, and the addition of fabric to the traditional rubber of the original boat shoe, Crocs is launching themselves into a mass consumption empire. We give our props to Crocs.

Okay, okay, so the site is a little bit Made in Spain-heavy I’ll admit, but shoedish is just getting her feet wet here, can you blame her? I’m like a kid in a candy store, only my candy just happens to be really expensive shoes and instead of a chocolateria it’s a whole giant world opening it’s bright, shiny gold, gaudy creations to me. I feel like I’ve been injected with an entire vile of heroin (not that I really know what the feels like). Here I was, sitting on my high horse, thinking that I knew everything there was to know about shoes and then Espana came and ripped the rug out from under me. It’s okay, we’re happy to learn more. Bring it on Spain! I can take all the Diego Sanz you got…just let me get my liter of Sangria and tapas together before the next lesson.

Shoedish loves to travel, but as much as we love walking through the narrow streets of the Barri Gotic, Barcelonetta, and El Borne - crossing between the old Roman world and the modern Catalon - there is something to be said for pure materialism. Though I should be soaking in the historical relevance and beauty of this great city, like a moth to the flame, I find myself drawn to that “other” thing that Spain is so famous for. Hey, I am a shoe girl through and through. The entire European Union is famous, not only for the style and classic luxury of their shoes, but the pure craftsmanship of their pieces as well. The leather here is so yummy that you want to bathe in it. Como Agua de Mayo is the most recent boutique to catch shoedish’s eye. This little boutique located in the heart of the city is home to luxury shoes, clothes, and accessories and gets a shoe plus from the shoedish. Look for Lydia Delgado, Ailanta, and Josef Font to be featured here.

“Wholey Maloles” is what Vogue UK had to say about one of shoedish’s favorite Spanish shoe diesigners, Maloles. Since we couldn’t think of anything more clever or witty, we’re sticking with that. Fans of the super star designer, Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Keira Knightley will be lining up to wear the Audrey Hepburn gone modern looks of the new collection. For the last five years Maloles has been on a mission to design the perfect ballet flat and we’re pretty sure they hit the nail with this tasty treat. If “Glowing Parade” was any clue as to what to expect from this inspired designer then I think we’re all in for a real treat.
