The singles scene has changed a lot over the past couple of years. The millennium has, unfortunately, ushered in a new way of thinking when it comes to finding a mate; a way of thinking that scores convenience as its top priority, when convenience is the last thing we need. I tend to think of men the way I think of my shoes. I love the fun, wild, and funky; the wilder, the better in most cases. They’re good for a night out, they make you feel sexy, and they’re always up for a party. When it comes to the ones I’m willing to invest in, however, it’s always a classic. A girl needs something she can count on - the go anywhere with anything - no matter what. This pretty little peep-toe from Derek Lam gives us the best of both worlds; a classic peep-toe mary jane with a little pink flirt for good measure.

Happy Valentine’s Day everybody. Even though shoedish doesn’t believe in celebrating Valentine’s Day - except for the candy…and maybe we’ll wear red - it’s still an excuse to post a ton of ridiculously pink and red shoes. Like we need an excuse! Today, we decided to celebrate D-Day with all of our favorite designers; Gucci, Christian Dior, Manolo Blahnik, Derek Lam, and Christian Louboutin, among others who have all made finding pink shoes unbelievably easy! Who knew? We might not agree with this over-commercialized scam of a holiday (and no, we’re not bitter) but we’ll happily take it as an excuse to wear pink shoes…or red, of course!

Fall 2008 is all about embellishments. This is how trends grow, attaching themselves to the new “It” design of the previous season and building into a more monopolized look. So, the looks we’re seeing this spring and summer will only be more focussed come fall. Embroidery, miniature details, weaving, lace, and rhinestones are the embellishments to watch for, but that doesn’t mean that your shoe has to become a gaudy piece of artwork. These pretty mary jane peep-toes from Dior are the perfect “little this, little that” of shoes 2008. A little bling can go a long way and will secure that you’re trendy for 2008. Ornate and glitzy, after all, should be the contemporary woman.

Shoedish is no a fan of pigeons. In fact, we dislike the things so much that we refuse to even acknowledge them as part of the bird family. We don’t care what anyone says - no offense to any bird people - but pigeons are gross. We like to consider them rodents - rats with wings - as we stick our noses in the air (or duck awkwardly as they fly directly at our heads) anytime they’re around.
…And after that painfully longwinded preface, we’ll just say that we like these feather friend sandals from Manolo Blahnik because they’re anything but pigeon-like. Additionally, we might need to use the heel to defend ourselves from flying rats…and now from bird lovers.
