Shoedish loves movies! We don’t love movies as much as we love shoes, but they’re pretty high on our list of favorite things and one of my favorite movies is Grease. I liked the movie so much that L took me to see the show on Broadway for my 25th birthday (the revival they did with the reality show “You’re the One that I Want”). I think I’ve said it before, but there is just something about those novelty movies we had growing up. My babysitter used to watch Grease daily and I always remember that fondly. Even as a child Grease made me feel euphoric! It’s the same feeling I get when I see a pair of shoes like these from Casadei! Besides the fact that they’re Grecian-esque - do you see the connection - they’re also a unique edition of this summer’s gladiator trend. In the circle of a shoedish life everything relates to shoes. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps I’ll own my own pair of euphoria-glazed gladiator sandals this summer; the kind of shoes that will trap my Danny in the soles of love. ”Inconceivable?” I think not. Wait…wrong movie.

Danner, a subsidiary of LaCrosse Footwear Inc., recently announced that it will supply 5,320 pairs of its Marine Hot boot to support the deployment of U.S. Marines. This new order is in addition to the $900,000 in delivery contract orders to the Marines announced on Feb. 7, bringing the total to $2.2 million in new orders. Lacrosse says that they are honored that the U.S. Marine Corps looks to them to provide a well built product. FN reports that Joseph Schneider, president and CEO of LaCrosse, said in a company statement, “Footwear is our passion and we strive to not only provide the highest-quality products, but to deliver on time and provide excellent customer service. Our team wants to continue to show our deep appreciation for the dedicated service of our men and women.” They don’t have a stiletto and we couldn’t wear them to the club, but this is the kind of support we can get behind. A shoedish shoutout to Lacrosse and Danner!

You know how shoedish is always going on and on and on and on about motorcycle chic; heavy metal, chain mail, leather, and we’re-too-small-for-our-oversized-shoes Mary Kate (or is it Ashley) Olsen? Well, we’re not going to apologize for that; no one need apologize for how cool, classic, and undeniably chic leather (worn right) is, but what happens when something right - hogaliciousness, that is - turns into something like this? What is it? I don’t know about you guys, but cyclist chic doesn’t have nearly the same affect. We haven’t done an Irregular Choice post in awhile and we hate to do one that hits on the hate side of our love hate relationship, but this just couldn’t be helped. Yikes! It’s like Lance Armstrong designed his own shoe line. Thank God Tory Burch got out of that relationship before this happened to her shoes. Yeesh!!

This is a trend that’s been running rampant around hollywood the past couple of years. As if the crazies didn’t do enough crazy things as it were, now they have to mark their behavior by running around barefoot. It’s such a strange thing really, why would anyone walk around publicly without shoes? This isn’t the mountains of Maine or the beaches of Tahiti or your grassy backyard. The last place you need to be walking around barefoot is LA. Gross! I don’t even walk around my apartment without shoes or slippers, or something. If you just got your toes done, wear flip flops for God’s sake. It’s one thing to walk to your mailbox - we might be able to forgive that - but a grocery store. Come on! We have to give Nicole Richie props for what seems like a turnaround in the last year; these photos of her are all pre-baby. As for Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse, C. Love, and a handful of others, shoedish is watching you.

Shoedish is seriously lovin’ on these pretty peep-toe t-bar platforms from Topshop’s new arrivals. They’re available in a nice brown color as well. We’re all about platforms, especially those that imitate the great looks from the 70s. T-straps aren’t universally flattering, but slingbacks are. I guess in a way, they cancel each other out to make for the perfect summer platform. Now, anyone can wear a t-strap. Holla! These pretty platforms have it all. Shoedish is thinking of adding them to our own collection. They remind us a little bit of Chloe without the price tag and you can’t beat a comparison like that.

Rumor has it that Amy Winehouse is setting herself up to launch a line of beauty products and accessories. Wha?? No? It’s all just rag mag gossip as of now, but we honestly wouldn’t be surprised; Amy’s look has been featured on couture runways before. British tabloid, The Sun, reports, “Amy’s style has been copied by girls around the country and there’s a lot of money to be made. She wants to bring out a range of cosmetics and fashion products. There could be hairspray, head scarves, liquid eyeliner, perfume… all the things that are distinctive of her look.” Right? This is who we want our teenagers emulating. While she’s at it let’s see if she can broker a deal for her own line of ballet flats too.
