rene caovilla featured at shoetube.tv

This would fall under the category of shoes we love but just cannot afford. Ho hum! At least they’re fun to look at! These pretty sparklers from Rene Caovilla are quite an investment. Some women buy diamonds and some women buy shoes. Shoedish buys neither, but if we could choose, we’d pick the shoes (over diamonds that is). Check out shoetube.tv for more shoe news and videos.

sxsw.jpgalternative.jpg

What lucky The Shoe Dish fan’s out there are going to the South by Southwest Festival in Texas this year? We hate you! We tease, we tease, of course we don’t hate you. We hope you have an awesome time and will only secretly be jealous that you’re there instead of or without us. In any case, we are happy to announce that Alternative Apparel, the leading lifestyle brand for free-thinking people has just been announced as the official merchandise provider for the festival, which starts late next week. Well done Alternative! Festival merchandise will be available at the SXSW General Store, online, and at local stores throughout Austin. If you’re there, make sure to stop by and check ‘em out. If you’re not, visit them online, that’s what shoedish will be doing.

abbey dawn: avril lavigne to launch junior’s lifestyle brand at kohl’s

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Following the success of celebrity brand marketing like Gwen Stefani’s Harajuku Lovers and tokidoki, Andew Leigh has just announced its plans to create a junior’s lifestyle brand with Avril Lavigne. The collection, Abbey Dawn, will be comprised of jewelry and clothing that copycat Avril’s tastes. In addition, shoes and accessories will be added to the line after its initial launch. We just have one little question for all these branded celebrity’s: Aren’t you all a little hypocritical? “Dressed up like your someone else…You’re not fooling anyone when you become.” How do you expect the world to not be interested, to get their own lives if you’re constantly shoving your “brand” down their throats. Today it’s easier to smell like Hillary Duff, wear Jessica Simpson’s shoes, and Mary-Kate’s clothes than it is to be unique. In fact, there’s hardly a brand on the market that doesn’t have some celebrity’s name attached to it. Well, enough of the shoedish rant. We don’t have a problem with branding. We just hate it when posers accuse posers of being posers when they’re set to bank off the posing. Aren’t we all posing? “Promise me I’m never gonna find you fake it.” Abbey Dawn will be available in July exclusively at Kohl’s.

pring paris pizzaz

pring.jpgpring-2.jpg

Well steal my shoes and call me Susan, but are these not some of the cutest little numbers you’ve ever seen? We introduced you to Pring Paris by Pring Chindahporn shoes when she launched her first line and opened her first boutique in Paris last year and we’re happy to share this mini preview of her new collection with you as well. Is it possible that they’ve gotten even more jazzy pizzazzy? Designers are always evolving, but we’re very impressed by the sheer guts that Pring’s creations prove in each strap, heel, and step. We had a hard time narrowing down the pack, but we’ve picked our favorites to share with you. These sexy black platforms climb the leg in style. With a pink sole and greenery applique there’s not much these babies don’t have going for them. The brown and snakeskin peep-toe t-straps, however, have to be our absolute favorites. These shoes are like nothing we’ve seen this season and you know how much shoedish loves her unique shoes. Skins will be huge again in 2008, along with spectator and color blocking while peep-toes, platforms, and color continue to make a bold statement. Maybe this year you’ll make yours as well…Pring Paris will be happy to hold your hand.

*Pring Paris will be launching a website very soon!

luichiny for wedding

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Here we are on the very opposite end of the wedding appropriate footwear spectrum with these pretty blooming vamp sandals from Luichiny. What is it with my obsession with Luichiny lately? Yeesh! Get over it already, right? Well, they seem to be serving our purpose, fitting perfectly into this week’s shoe theme. These are dainty, feminine, and cute as opposed to our previous loud sex goddess wedding shoes. Personally, we think that loud is legal when it comes from your shoes; nobody will hear them from all the way down there. A loud dress could trump the bride, but your shoes will just have people asking who your shoe genie is. The bride has to wear boring white shoes anyway…unless the bride were me, but that’s an entirely different story altogether.

fringe t-strap sandals from urban outfitters

suede-fringe-urban.jpegsuede-fringe-urban1.jpeg

Last week shoedish was whining and crying about the weather and the liar of a weatherman when she woke up expecting a summer preview and was greeted by great big clouds of grey. Wha!?!!!?? We bundled up in a blanked and proceeded to bitch, bitch, bitch about our poor sad life on the Mediterranean. Well, we’re here to admit that our whining was a bit premature. Turns out that the weatherman wasn’t totally off base about his sunny weekend forecast. Shoedish ended the weekend with sun-kissed cheeks and the satisfying souvenir of sand between our toes. We spent the entire weekend at the beach!!! Wooh wooh! Holla back youngin’ wooh wooh! Ha Ha! Every time I say “holla” I think of that song. Anyway…you know what blushed cheeks, sol, and sand remind shoedish of? Sandals! These pretty t-strap casuals are footing the bill for shoedish’s fantasy today. The only question we have is whether the fringe phalanges will get in the way when you walk. We assume that they’ve been measured just right, but you never know. Does anyone know if the fringe bothers at all? Otherwise we give these t-strap sandals from Urban Outfitters a great big shoedish seal of approval…unofficially.
