snubbed by the fabbies: an open letter from shoedish

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Dear Shoe Pets,

The Shoe Dish was snubbed by the 1st Annual Fabbies! It must be a mistake, right? No, no, no mistake here, we were snubbed. It’s okay, we’re going to play Ms. Nice Shoe Girl and give a great big stiletto stomp to all those wonderful fashion and lifestyle bloggers out there who did make the cut. We’ll secretly be devising a plan to destroy all or nemeses; a virus here, a blackout there. We tease, we tease, congratulations to the nominees!! Make sure to visit the Fabbies to vote for all your favorite bloggers and send them a note telling them that The Shoe Dish would have received your vote had they been included. Excuse us now while we go bury ourselves in our shoes.

xx’s and shoes, shoedish

black bows, colorful bows, a buffet of bows from bronx shoes

luichiny-bows-1.jpgluichiny-bows.jpg

All this talk about wedding footwear has shoedish’s little shoe head spinning. We don’t often fantasize about it, but when you’re talking about weddings and shoes, it’s hard not to think about what you would do if you were the one getting married. When I was younger I used to say that my bridesmaids would wear knee-high boots (how fun and different) and then I went through a phase when I thought they’d wear flip flops. Now you see, if shoedish was a bride and if she chose black dresses as her bridesmaids dresses (these are two very big If’s mind you) then she’d have them each wear a different color bow bouquet sandal from Luichiny (again with Luichiny, I know). But, since shoedish isn’t a bride and we aren’t talking about my wedding we’ll have to be satisfied with recommending just the black bow bouquet sandals. The bows make our shoe world go round!

industry news: tommy hilfiger brings shoe-line in-house

Tommy Hilfiger has reached an agreement with its shoe licenser Stride Rite unit of Collective Brands Inc. to bring its men’s and women’s footwear lines in-house. Stride Rite will remain the licensee for Tommy Hilfiger Kids through Dec. 31, 2009 and will deliver the full Tommy Hilfiger Footwear collection for 2008. Several of Stride Rite associates who have been involved with developing the Tommy Hilfiger line will join Tommy Hilfiger USA in the new footwear division. The agreement will end a decades old relationship between the two companies.

*Tommy Hilfiger Footwear collections will continue as always, being distributed through the high-end networks and its own specialty stores.

vivaladiva’s gola dilemma

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Just after Christmas, shoedish purchased a great pair of boot kicks from Aldo (Sugar Brand boot copycats) for $17! Me encanta after Christmas sales!!!!!!!!! Anyhoot, we didn’t realize at the time how much we’d love those casual mini-boots and how often we’d wear them. They’re like the glue to our sole. Now we’ve got our little shoe hearts set on these pretty Gola Dilemma boot shoes from Vivaladiva. First of all, they’re green. Secondly, they’re green. Lastly, they’re very similar to the boot shoes we already love, but they have this great addition to the shaft that reminds us a little bit of the wool-sock-boot look from Marc Jacobs and other copycats. They’re very casual, please don’t misunderstand, but they’re somehow fighting to stay on trend. We always enjoyed rooting for the underdogs.

stuart weitzman dress sandals at bluefly

Here’s another pair of pretty wedding appropriate footwear. If you’re in the wedding party these pretty sparklers may be too loud, so make sure you check with the bride first, you don’t need any bridezilla’s stomping on your poor helpless feet. We think they’re unique and would easily dress up that little black dress. If you’re not in the wedding party, your rules are a little more lenient. I’m not advocating trying to outshine the bride, but there is no reason you can’t look good and have pretty shoes. The twisted t-bar of these Stuart Weitzman dress sandals is doused with champagne and white gems, while the simple design makes for an almost-prom-but-safely-adult look. They’re pretty, what else do you want from me?
