what do your shoes say about you?

Originally uploaded by shoedish

A recent study performed by Mindset Profile™, an online ad network that enables brand advertisers to reach millions of people with the personality traits that fit their brands, revealed that people who buy more than three pairs of sneakers a year are “61% more likely than the general population to have the qualities of a modern leader”. Say what? I’m telling you, my fellow shoe fiends, the facts just keep piling up in our favor. First better sex, now more powerful leadership skills. What’s next? After sampling 7,500 respondents, the study showed that these people (we’ll call them shoe lovers) are likely to be more decisive, assertive and spontaneous; all the qualities of a modern day leader. “It is often said you can tell a lot about a person by the shoes they wear, and now we have some hard data to back that up,” said Sarah Welch, COO and co-founder of Mindset Media in a release.  “Sneaker marketers can take advantage of this data and the Mindset Media targeting capability to reach enthusiastic sneaker buyers more efficiently.” We’re now wondering how many shoes our poli-friend Barry Obama has in his closet - we’re guessing and hoping he has a lot.

shoe charity news: shoe carnival teams up with soles4souls

23_2shoe_carnival_150102.JPGsoles-4-souls.gif

Yesterday, Shoe Carnival Inc., announced its plans for a week long collaboration with shoedish’s favorite footwear charity Soles4Souls. Beginning March 30, Shoe Carnival will be collecting “gently worn” shoes from its customers at select retail locations. “We are thrilled that Shoe Carnival has chosen to partner with Soles4Souls,” Wayne Elsey, founder and CEO of Soles4Souls, said in a press release. “The [donated shoes] will make a huge impact on the lives of thousands of people in desperate need.” Customers who make a donation to the charity during the week long event will receive a $5 coupon good toward anything in the Shoe Carnival stores.

*Visit the Soles4Souls website for more shoe charity news, including the upcoming “National Barefoot Campaign” set to begin June 1 - 7 of this year with “National Barefoot Day” taking place on Sunday, June 1. No, that doesn’t mean everyone should go stomping around town barefoot - it’s merely the principal of donation. Even shoe nazi, shoedish, can get behind that idea. Soles4Souls has donated more than 3 million pairs of shoes since its inception in January 2005.

hollywould for spring

hollywould.jpghollywould-for-spring.jpg

It’s time to update your spring wardrobe and with the help of Hollywould, you’ll be springing your ‘springwear’ straight into summer. Think strappy, strappy, strappy and you’ll be all set for spring flings and summer fun. These pretty sandals from Hollywould’s new spring collection are the perfect amount of shine for all that sun you’ll soon be getting and a wonderful contrast to newly tanned and buttery soft summer skin. We are loving the blue sole of these strappy gold ‘Dillon’ sandals and the not-so-subtle grandioseness of the stone and gold filigree embellished ‘Cuoio’ from the Spanish-inspired collection. Summer and Spring are no time for boundaries, so grab that shoe passport and go places!!!

giuseppe zanotti: purple color-blocking bow vamps

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Oh Giuseppe Zanotti, how we love thee, let us count the ways. Is it just me or is Giuseppe Zanotti the master of bow vamps? Last season we fell, head over hells, in love with GS’s satin, black bow peep-toe sandals and now we’re going to have to cheat with his sister. We are in love with these purple dress sandals from the couture shoe designer! Y tu? Color-blocking in our favorite color combination and just in time for spring. If we had bought ourselves a new pair of shoes for Easter, these would have certainly been them. There are no ne-eyed, one-horned flying purple people eaters here; this shoe is pure satin genius…the purple is merely an added plus.

celebrity shoe star: diane kruger

Originally uploaded by shoedish

And the Celebrity Shoe Star is….okay, we admit that this one was a little more difficult; we were intentionally trying to stump our CSS expert, Can. This gorgeous actress and former model was born in Germany and she isn’t just a shoe star, but a style star all around; she always looks perfect and we love the risks she takes with her shoes. Another hint: She’s dating ex-Dawson cutie, Pacey (Joshua Jackson). Also, she’s got a great set of gams, which only helps matters in the shoe department. Heels make everyones legs look nicer, but if you already have nice legs, well you can imagine how awesome that combination is. Great shoes, great legs, great clothes, and a uber cute boyfriend. The lucky celebrity shoe star is Diane Kruger.

hayden panettiere: shoe whoops, an explanation

Originally uploaded by shoedish

We received a ton of emails yesterday about our Hayden Panettiere post. Yeesh! We’re always surprised at what gets people all riled up. Just to note we didn’t say that we didn’t like Hayden. In fact, in our defense, we consider and even tagged her a “Hero” of shoes. Simmer down now, folks! This was the outfit in question. If you follow shoes like shoedish does, you’d know that she wore these same shoes to the VMA’s late last year to a round of shodish applause. We like the shoes, which is unusual since they’re clear-strapped and that usually reminds shoedish of only two things: 1) Beauty pageants and 2) Stripper…or rather exotic dancing shoes. Separately, the dress is super and the shoes are cute. I just don’t like this outfit. Sparkly dress and clear wedges…um, that’s about as “pageanty” as it gets. Clear?

BTW: If you like the shoes, they’re from Louis Vuitton, but we’ve had a hard time finding them since they’re last season.
