Wood and leather are the two materials that shoedish thinks about when it comes to summer sandals. Don’t misunderstand, we’re all about color and summer is no better time to wear the flashiest and juiciest that the color spectrum has to offer, but bronzed summer skin always looks delicious paired with buttery leathers and hearty woods. These pretty platform sandals from Burberry are a perfect example of the yummy offerings coming our way this hot season. So the heel isn’t exactly wood, but the leather more than makes up for what the black lacquered heel lacks and we’re falling all over ourselves with those sexy ankle straps, t-strap, and feminine vamp buckles. We’ll take one, please!

Celebrity Shoe Star

Someone else decided to join the Celebrity Shoe Star guessing game yesterday and survived the gauntlet with flying colors. Our friend in shoes, Sarah, guessed the Celebrity Shoe Star. Congratulations girl! Stacy Ann Ferguson, “The Dutchess”, or Fergie, her stage name or as she is popularly known as to fans (we’re always curious what friends call them. Do friends really refer to P. Diddy as…well, P. Diddy, etc.) The 33-year old musician was picked for this week’s Celebrity Shoe Star because of her fierce shoe choices. She’s always wearing something that shoedish covets and that, my shoe fiends, makes her the perfect choice.

*Fergie celebrated her 33rd birthday on March 27th. Happy belated birthday from shoedish Mrs. (Soon-to-Be) Duhamel.

Our girl Gwen Stefani never lets us down when it comes to the shoe trend department. Color blocking and yellow! Oy! What more could you possibly ask for? These awesome round-toe peep-toes from L.A.M.B are getting our shoe cells all riled up. My brood and I were having a serious talk last night and they’ve given me the thumbs up on adding these guys to the family. I like to have their say when it coms to expanding the family, though when it comes right down to it, I usually get the final say.

*We’re looking forward to the No Doubt reunion record. Solo Gwen is great, but we like her coupled as well.

All the trendy colors for spring/summer 2008 are reminding us of the ocean. Rightly so, I guess, since beach is pretty much the definition of summer…at least where shoedish is concerned. Yellow patents are channeling the suns rays, while pretty purples, oranges, and fuchsia’s have been pulled from the bottoms of the most fascinating and beautiful reefs. These pretty turquoise blue peep-toe mary janes from Jimmy Choo seem to be conjuring the very depths of the ocean to create the most alluring blue yet, but they don’t stop there. These mary janes are complete with a little bite; a lizard-like texture that sends us to the driest of deserts. Is that turquoise ocean merely a mirage? Who cares! Desert screams summer just as much as Ocean.

Here’s a new topic for shoedish. We were painting our nails yesterday and fantasizing about all the summer pedicures we’ll be getting once it’s warm enough for sandals, when we realized that this was a topic we’d never even discussed on shoedish. It’s quite an important one for shoe lovers. Shoedish doesn’t think anyone should wear sandals without properly primped peds, so here’s our first-ever nail polish post, just in time for summer fun. O.P.I Nail Lacquer is like the Jimmy Choo of nail polishes so it was only right that we start with them. This summer, look for shades that compliment the bright summer months. Colors inspired by India - fuchsias, corals, oranges, and reds - will be a huge trend and look for the metallic shine from winter to be making a big play for the summer months as well. Our two favorite shades for spring/summer 2008 are MonSooner of Later and Keys to My Karma. The names are almost as good as the colors!!! Our dear reader, Angela, first turned us on to 80%20. The slouchy boots remind us a little bit of some moccasins that we spotted on Nicole Richie about a year ago, that we couldn’t find anywhere.
