LaCrosse Footwear raised more than $20,000 for the Marine Corps Family Foundation. At its Danner and LaCrosse performance sock sale at the Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade Show in January, the company matched each sock sold with a $3 donation. The George and Virginia Schneider Charitable Foundation, developed by LaCrosse Footwear’s former board chairman George Schneider, doubled the total donations, for a final amount of $20,450. “We feel that it’s important to help support our brave men and women in uniform through organizations like the Marine Corps Family Foundation,” Joseph Schneider, president and CEO of LaCrosse Footwear, said in a statement released Thursday. We agree! We love how charitable all our friends in footwear are. This is the third year LaCrosse Footwear has donated socks, raising more than $50,000 for charities.

We love it when designers focus on the heel. Christian Louboutin understands the importance of this often forgotten little area, adorning it with bows, while others, like Prada and Miu Miu focus their attention on the actual heel or stiletto itself. The problem with all these wonderful designers and their glorious shoes is that we can hardly dream of affording all their delicious shoes, which is what makes us so incredibly happy to be staring down these pretty bouquet heel sandals from Hale Bob. Colorful skittle-red and green (the green are currently unavailable, but keep your fingers crossed) are paired with a lovely bouquet of spring flowers - thanks in part to all those April showers - and come to you at the truly affordable price of $119. Now that is what shoedish calls truly affordable heel worship.

Men’s footwear for fall is traditionally hearty - “Mas fuerte”, they’d say in Spain - and this year’s trends are lining up to be no different. Last year distressed leather and fashion-forward details (yes, even men’s shoes can have “details”) paved the way for more edgy styles. American men are much more subtle in their styling - especially when it coms to shoes - than Europeans, but the European look is slowly sneaking into the American culture in the little details. Military inspired boots with a European flare feel safer because they’re heavy and cool. Draven and Frye are the hottest bands among the young Hollywood elite, while Via Spiga and Golden Fox provide a more classic option. Look for 2008 to revise the traditional bootwear market even more with additional embellishments and a little heavy metal flare.

Looks like it’s shaping up to be a flowery day here at The Shoe Dish. That’s spring for you! These flats from Antonio Melani are pretty in pink. We’re been spotting fuchsia’s and hot pinks all over Hollywood, which can only mean one thing. Pink, as we’ve reported time and time again over the past few months, has joined the summer color parade and is the lead by a whole foot. Nikki Hilton is a fan of the pink parade, she has flats in every pink shade under the sun, similar to the ones shown here. The ‘Rosa’ is in full bloom, bursting at the vamp with a pretty leather flower detail in a slightly colder shade than the shoe itself.

Spring is here and summer is on it’s way, so it’s time to get those pretty peds in tip top shape for summer sandals. Pedicures, yes! But, pedicures just might not be enough. Your peds have been buried under wool socks and too tight strappy heels for far too long, but don’t worry, YogaToes - a revolutionary new product will help those feet look and feel great - are here to save the day. YogaToes beautify feet with passive exercise that works to straighten bent toes and alleviate the foot pain caused by tight shoes, high heels, and overexertion. This easy to use product promises to help stretch cramped feet, strengthen and align foot muscles, and increase circulation. The more you wear them, the better they work.
