Pastry Shoes has gone hitop, which seems fitting considering their street chic line of flavorful casual shoes have also been hitting the high street. These ‘Cherry Cream’ Hitops from the Pastry Shoe Line developed by Rev. Run’s (formerly of Run DMC) daughters, Angela and Vanessa Simmons, are tasty delicious. Full of girly details like four shades of pink, leather, lace, foil, and hint of gold bling, these shoes have hit a high note with young glam girls around the globe. Once you’ve struck a cord with the youth market - think Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers - it’s only up and away from here. These new hitops from Pastry Shoes are an explosion of sugar!

Next fall all those booties and funky shoe boots you know and love will be getting a full metal jacket makeover with metallic golds, silvers, and bronzes. Silver tones will play in direct contrast to warmer bronze and gold while sharp cutouts and angles will share the runway with the gentle curves of rounded and almond toes. The Shoe Dish isn’t quite sure how she feels about this look - it’s all a little bit Samantha Jones in Catch-38 (you know that hideously gaudy astro-hobo-hippy-nastiness that she wore when waiting in the gynecologists office with the nun) - but we’re willing to give it a chance. We’d follow Betsey Johnson straight into the battle field. We might not agree with everything she does, but a friend in shoe is a friend for life.

Yesterday we posted this designer challenge between French Sole and…who else? The challenger was none other than the copycat designer of all copycat designers himself, Steve Madden. These pretty blooming vamp thongs from Steve Madden are a fraction of the price of the ones from French Sole. We will admit to liking the SM version, though we do think that the French Soles are much more atheistically pleasing, as well as a bit more chic. $100 off the retail price, however, would have us scrambling for the Steve Madden version. They are merely sandals, after all, and $200 is way too much for a pair of sandals, no matter how pretty you are.

Shoedish has been turned on to a new London based design company with a brood of lovely shoes for our fellow shoe fiends. Mirage London specializes in the in-house design of specialty shoes, clothes, and accessories and we must, we just must focus on their shoe collection. My oh my, they’ve got a pretty one. Is that a stiletto you have under your sole or are you just happy to see me? Like we said, we were turned on as only shoedish can be turned on when it comes to pretty shoes, so it was no surprise that when we stumbled upon these pretty peep-toes from Barbara Bui we experienced a major shoegasm. That might be the best we’ve had…at least this week. A little peep-toe action mixed with astro-chic velcro straps for all you color blocking pundits; these Barbara Bui platforms are a successful marriage of several of 2008’s shoe trends. Visit Mirage London’s website for all that Spring Fashion 2008 has to offer or check out their London area boutiques in Knightsbridge, Sloane Square, Kings Road, and Hampstead High Street.

All this talk of color schemes, flower power, and color blocking had us so excited about the shoe trends for 2008 that we almost forgot about the ugly shoes trying to enter the comeback tour. New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys might be making a comeback, but we’re pretty sure that anything that combines a sluggish rubber platform and a lace up street shoe will not be joining the ranks as the next cool kid in town. This isn’t David Arquette in Never Been Kissed, after all. Of course, that doesn’t stop designers from trying. Look how well bringing back the tapered jean went. Just give it a new name, ask Posh to pose in your ads, and you’re golden. But, that’s just our opinion. Thoughts? Opinions? This platform canvas shoe is from DKNY. Nine West, Skechers and Candies has a version as well and it won’t be long now before Steve Madden has one too…

School master formal meets city girl chic. Square-toed pumps used to signify a conservative and refined style of dressing and footwear for women, but these sexed up tortoise-shell pumps from Hollywould help “refined” and “proper” get the makeover they deserve. The gold platform takes these shoes from head mistress to principals mistress. Like Hollywould says, “The tortoise always wins the race.” Take a cue from Hollywould on the Science of Style. Add one part tortoise-shell to chunky heel. Mix in the comfort platform and frost with gold accents. Square the toe, but with a gentle rounding of the outer edges. Glaze with a shiny sugar coating and serve immediately! Shoedish would love a slice of what Hollywould is serving. In fact, we’ll take two.
