terrible tuesday: kitten heel sandals from chloe

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Ew! That’s about all we’re willing to say about these Easter purple kitten heel sandals from Chloe. The color is not the only thing that reminds us of Easter. When shoedish was a young shoe lover, we used to love Easter for three reasons. Candy, of course is would be among those favorites, while lace gloves and matching clutch came in at a tight third, but our most favorite Easter gift would have to be the ready-pack Barbie shoes for girls. You know the plastic starter stilettos they made to match your Barbie’s shoes? Well, these sandals from Chloe share an unfortunate resemblance to those Barbie shoes for little girls, only with a slightly shorter heel. What pushed these shoes over the ‘nasty’ edge is the strange placement of the ankle strap. We didn’t know they were marketing high-ankled shoes to go with high-waisted pants? Interesting strategy, especially when you consider the small majority of the shoe public who can pull off the normal placement of an ankle strap. If you’re not getting the same bad taste in your mouth as us, feel free to purchase your pair at Intermix Online.

french connection flats channel ysl ‘tribute’

Originally uploaded by shoedish

If you haven’t had enough of YSL, the ‘Tribute’, and Ashlee Simpson, here’s one more Tribute-esque post coming at you. This will make a lot of shoe girls very happy and shock of all shocks, this copycat doesn’t come from Steve Madden. These ballerina flats from French Connection are something a LOT different when you consider the mother ship, but somehow the YSL look translates beautifully into a flat as well. Another plus is that these are wearable with just about everything and don’t run you the risk of toppling down stairs (though we realize that some people do this in flats as well). These ‘Tribute’ inspired flats will run you 50 pounds ($99).

*If you’re still looking for the real YSL Trubute Platform, they are still available at Bluefly.

celebrity shoe star: gossip girl

Originally uploaded by shoedish

And the Celebrity Shoe Stars are…

“You’re nobody until you’re talked about.” So says the tagline for the hit teen dramedy and one of shoedish’s favorite guilty pleasures, Gossip Girl, which began last night with the first of 5 all new episodes. Do you love it! Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, and Taylor Momsen were the subjects of yesterdays Celebrity Shoe Star and with good reason. These girls wear awesome shoes on and off the air. We’re loving Leighton Meester in YSL and Taylor Momsen’s decorative socks, while Blake Lively has a boot collection that could challenge the likes of Frye’s very own closet. Did anyone catch the new episode last night? And all the great new shoes? Thoughts? Opinions? Please discuss!

bright ballerina flats from nine west

eden-fuchsia.jpgeden-yellow.jpg

When is it okay to wear printed python in the every day? Is that a serious question? When is it not okay? Okay, all kidding aside, it is okay to wear printed python in your casual footwear when it looks like these bright lights from Nine West. The ‘Eden’ is a pretty ballerina flat in this summer’s hottest colors - blue and golden brown not shown here - and the best part is they’re on sale right now! What better time is there to buy?

heel love: a miu miu romance

Originally uploaded by shoedish

There’s a lot more going on here than a decorative heel, which could make you almost forget to notice that very important detail. Miu Miu’s new collection has a bit of fairy tale story going on. Shoedish has posted a number of shoes from their ‘Alice and Wonderland’ inspired collection including those fantasy Mad Hatter mary janes (that also donned a decorative heel). The diamond color blocking scheme and peeked ankle collar is complete with a lace-up t-strap mary jane and let us not forget the heel. The heel of these gaudy ‘Harlequin’ shoes are dripping with blue and navy jewels.

lego or transformer, you decide: balenciaga vs steve madden

balenciaga-lego.jpgsm-lego.jpg

After our Balenciaga ‘Designer Challenge’ post yesterday we had a bunch of questions come in concerning the little ‘Lego’ shoe note at the end. Here it is, the original ‘Lego’ stiletto from Balenciaga’s Fall 2007 Collection and the Steve Madden copycat readying for its May 2008 debut. The original will put you under a whopping $4000+, while the Steve Madden only costs about $100. We think that $100 is still too much to pay for shoe that looks like it was built for a couture cycling team…by a child. This was set to be the next ‘It’ shoe, but we haven’t seen it around all that much. A few celebrities, like Beyonce, have been spotted in the Transformers-inspired sidekick sandals, but these are in no way a stacked platform peep-toe ala Christian Louboutin or a platform hooker shoe courtesy of YSL. How many of you are really interested in owning this shoe?
