It is no surprise that YSL seems to be a theme for this week. Shoedish is a firm believer in cosmic energy and karma and the fact that Yves Saint Laurent has littered The Shoe Dish at the start of this week is merely another argument in support of this.

“Dear Shoedish - Can you tell me where to find the platforms that Leighton Meester is wearing in yesterdays Celebrity Shoe Star reveal post? I love them!”

Leighton’s platform YSL’s are the Jeanne Platform Loafers from Fall 2006 and as we expected are not currently in stock at any shoe stores. After an exhaustive shoe search, however, we’ve managed to round up a few nice versions of the platform loafer. If these don’t satisfy your taste for the real thing, we understand, keep a look out for the YSL version on eBay or contact the stockists for Saks, Bergdorf, or Nordstrom’s, to see if there’s any way to get your hands on them. In the meantime, here’s some shoes to cure what ails you:

Feliz Diada de Sant Jordi everyone! Today is the festival of love in Spain as men and women unite in a ritual that closely resembles that of Valentine’s Day with a uniquely Latin twist. On “Spanish Valentine’s Day” men give their novia’s roses and women give their novio’s books. Shoedish thinks it should be shoes and books or books and books, but since this tradition goes back way further than us, I’m guessing we don’t really have a say in the matter. At any rate, shoedish (sans novio) is planning on buying herself the original Spanish text version of Don Quixote! But, to make this day even more fancy and fantastic, we’re also going on a summer shoe hunt. We’ll have N (PJ) and LK in tow as we discover the sardona, 24-hour readings of Don Quixote, SHOES, and a city marked decidedly by the colors of the Spanish flag! Lots of shoe…and other news to report manana! Hasta pronto!

Camilla Skovgaard

The two-band sandal is back and thanks to designers like Camilla Skovgaard, the Denmark-based shoe designer, they’re even prettier than ever. These sparkly two-band sandals have another “2” going on that makes them decidedly trendy and that’s the two-toned banding of the double bands. The sparkled bronze pops against the summer white vamp strap and the stiletto extension will make any leg look long, lean, and mean. Camilla Skovgaard’s new collection is sure to be on the hit list of shoe fiends everywhere - we know she’s on ours - and with her unique booties and a few hints of Balenciaga to boot it’s only a natural progression.

*Camilla designed shoes for the Sheikhs’ wives and daughters in Dubai before getting her BA in footwear in London.
