Shoedish hasn’t posted any architecturally sound half wedge sandals recently and what better day than Monday to bring you some shoe structure perfection in the form of these pretty modern sandals from Pollini. Yellow on brown, brown on yellow…the perfect colors for summer 2008 and even better on soft, silky, bronzed cotton skin. These t-strap sandals add a modern chic and structured tastefulness to the gladiator trend sitting in the forefront of trendy fashion these days, allowing anyone to test the look without a full throttle face planting into the hot-today-gone-tomorrow trend. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with testing the water first.

If you’re an avid shoedish reader you may be thinking that you’re seeing double, are having a deja vu moment, or are quite positive you’re sharing mental obscurity with Bill Murray in Groundhog’s Day, but shoedish is here to tell you that it’s not just you, these pretty twin-strap t-strap mary janes are just another example of that color-blocking trend that has consumed the shoe trends for 2008. Color-blocking has certainly had its day on shoedish - we are such consumers - but if you haven’t yet dipped your toes into the fountain of this trend, here’s a pretty shoe from L.A.M.B. to help you start your collection. Round-toe, spectator, twin-strapped, green…check, check, check, check!!!!
It has been a while since shoedish focussed on any architecturally modern shoes and so we thought what better day than Monday to jump in, head first, with these symmetrically sound wedge sandals from Pollini.

Shoedish talks a big game when it comes to shoe buying, but we actually don’t buy as many shoes as you might imagine. Momma Shoedish taught us well and we’re frugally frugal to a frugal fault. The good thing about our nauseating frugality is that when we do buy a new pair of shoes, they’re quite special, and our first real sandal purchase of the summer was nothing less than spectacular. My friend, LK, was with me when I bought the spectacularly spectacular gladiator sandals you see sitting to the right and she wasn’t a fan, but after seeing them on the shoedish’s foot she was almost convinced. Shoedish couldn’t turn a gay man straight, but she has been known to turn careless shoesters into drooling shoeholics; it’s the nature of shoeism. We’ll also claim responsibility for LK’s new love for the color green, but that’s a story for another day. These pretty silver-bit red gladiator sandals from shoedish’s brood are from Hazel, our new favorite shoe store in Barcelona, Spain. Do you love it?

There’s not much you can say about Kate Spade that doesn’t involve some variation of every feminine and pretty adjective in the book and these “delightful” round-toe slingbacks from the summer line are girly, delicate, graceful, lovely, fetching, and cute. We’re not one for the neutrals, but when a tan slingback is laden with polka dots and a classic witch-buckle vamp, you can’t help but get attached. In fact, these shoes are probably the most classically standard shoes we’ve liked in a very long time. Well done Kate Spade! Check out the new line of Kate Spade shoes available at Saks.
