It’s a very raffia kind of summer. You may remember this material making a peekaboo statement in last summers footwear trends, but this year it’s taking an even bolder step forward into the fashion forefront. Everything has a little bit o’ raffia in it. From purses and skirts to dresses and shoes, raffia is adding a little tropical punch to 2008s warm weather fashion. Poppy purses at Hollywould make way for pom pom heeled platforms at Armand Basi One and the raffia train doesn’t stop there. We’re going to see raffia on just about everything that designers can get their creative little hands on and there’s nothing wrong with that. Raffia-wear is good for animals and the environment! These ‘Bombshell’ wedges from Nanette Lepore are a fashion statement all themselves from the queen of cute herself. Available at Bluefly and on sale!!

Oh Georgina Goodman, how I love thee! What? You want me to count the ways? I was in a museum in Madrid last weekend looking at a painting by Goya when my friend, PJ, asked me what I liked about the painting I was looking at. Hmmmm…good question. I’m a bit of a museum nerd, but I won’t pretend to have any “real” explanation as to why I like the paintings I like. Shoes, like art, are much the same. I could go on and on about the sleek chic, the embellished vamp, the perfect Smurf-like round-toe, and all the other qualities that make this shoe aesthetically pleasing, but sometimes all you need to say about a piece of beautiful art is that you like it and well, my shoe friends, shoedish just likes these pumps from Georgina Goodman plain and simple. Don’t get me wrong, if you put me in a museum of shoes, I could totally rock out shoe history like a curator on speed.

Everyone had something to say about yesterdays grunge-bootie post from Cesare Paciotti. That’s what I like to hear! In the end, I’m always right, but please feel free to argue with me. I tease, I tease. Let’s see how you guys like these Spanish-inspired peep-toe, peep-heel pumps from the man that brought you a grunge bootie that made you fee dirty. Have Cesare Paciotti redeemed themselves with these shoes or is this another false start. Well, shoedish likes them. They remind us of a stroll through the back alleys of Girona…and The Perfume. Of course, we can see how that can be taken completely out of context and make you feel dirty again. What a shoe dilemma!

Bakers is the new Steve Madden ya’ll! Yesterday, after our designer challenge post, we realized that we hadn’t done any knockoff posts in a very long time, so we went on a knockoff shoe search. We were already at Bakers, so we decided to start there and guess what? Bakers really is the new Steve Madden. We’d been looking everywhere for knockoffs of the Dior ‘It” shoe from Sex and the City fame and the YSL ‘Tribute’ sandal ala Ashlee Simpson, but none of the shoes we found could compare to the original until now. We know there is nothing like the real thing, but were relatively impressed with the way the affordable versions look here. Thoughts?

Suede is shaping up to be one of Fall’s most prevalent materials and these ankle boots from Tory Burch are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to winter weather fashion finds. These suede boots are a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and rugged and feminine all wrapped up into one great and versatile boot. Tory Burch was recently named an icon in the making, which means she’ll soon join the ranks of Converse, Christian Louboutin, Uggs, and even Manolo Blahnik, which is quite a list of designers to be teamed with. The Tory Burch signature gold plated heel - like her coveted ballet flats - make these boots yet another fashion staple and soon to be classic.
