Traditional cold weather neutrals like grey, tan, black, and brown will be seeing some fancy bling added to their coats come fall. Peep-toes will remain in the limelight for at least another year and this winter it’s all about that piggie cleavage. All vamps from round almond toes to peep-toe windows will be dressed to the nines with larger than life bows, poms, bobbles, and trinkets. We’re talking when Kimora Lee Simmons meets Diddy kind of bling people. Even Bourne, who traditionally makes casual comfort footwear for the upscale granola market, has jumped on the vamp embellished trend with their ‘Diva’ almond toe pump, which is complete with a glitzy gem and bow on the vamp. Suffice it to say we’re impressed.

Timberland Footwear had a rough year in profits, stumbling under a large drop in sales and market shares, but the street chic brand hasn’t given up yet. This winter season they’re making a play for the upscale runway market with lace-up boots like we saw on the Prada Fall 2008 Runway. Lace-up boots, particularly knee-high lace-ups, took center stage and with all the heel-less creations, this is a look that wears both day and night. Grunge is making a big play in this years trends and the punk-style lace-up boots straddle a thin line between grunge and rugged chic. The knee-high lace-up boots from Timberland have a waterproof outer shell and are lined in smartwool for warmth in cold weather. The best part, however, is that the soles are made from 15% reclaimed rubber. Eco-conscious and trendy? Well played Timberland.

We’re seriously digging on these turquoise platform sandals from Wild Pair. They’ve got all the makings of a YSL ‘Tribute’ heel (minus the t-strap) only much cheaper. These pretty peeps are available at Bakers - a cheap shoe department that shoedish usually neglects, but who have been showing up a lot here lately - and we’re seriously considering an international purchase. The tangled wave of vamp straps and the criss cross wanna-be t-strap give birth to a gorgeous and complimenting slingback. Not everyone can wear a high ankle strap or even t-straps, but everyone looks good in slingbacks. Purchase these and a number of other great shoes at Bakers.

And the Celebrity Shoe Stars are…well, my shoe friends, it’s the leading ladies of that much talked about little show we like to call “Sex and the City” or “Sexo un Nueva York”. Sara Jessica Parker joined her frienemies, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Kim Cattrall in a spectacular show of shoe love and shoedish was right there to watch. We thought the Dior ‘Extreme Cut-Out Sandals’ would certainly give it away (Can, was that the give away?) but if you saw their world premiere - and could get past SJP’s hat - than you’d have certainly noticed Kristin’s gorgeous Louboutins. We love our sexy NY ladies and our sexy NY ladies love their shoes. The “Sex and the City” movie opens May 30th in the USA. In Spain June 20th.
