Hola mi zapatos amigas! Shoedish was editing an assignment this morning when she noticed that every time she used the word “show” she spelled it “shoe”. Shoedish isn’t the worlds best typist - we finger punch - which leads to a string of misspelled words, grammar mistakes, and the whole lot of truly unacceptable mistakes for a writer. We’re also convoluted enough - shoe crazy in the shoe head - that misspelling the word “show” by writing “shoe” is quite difficult to catch (Shoe — of course! Why wouldn’t it be shoe?) We were thinking that maybe it’s a subliminal message that the shoe twin in me is trying to send out to the masses. If a person is reading an article about “Eating in New York City” and they are continually reading the word “shoe” they might be inclined to go shoe shopping instead of food tasting. Hmmm…this is all very interesting stuff, very interesting indeed. We’re thinking all those shoe companies should hire us to do their campaigning. Enough of all that, though, let me shoe you the shoes…

Claudia Ciuti feather-vamp sandals are available at Shopbop for $405.

karen millen at asos

Shoedish doesn’t really believe in the matchy match - red earrings, red ribbon, red shoes - in fact in most cases it freaks us out a bit. So, we wouldn’t normally do this - promote matching shoes and bags - but in this case we just couldn’t help it. These two items from Karen Millen at ASOS just couldn’t help but grab out attention. The boxed leather shopper bag and matching gladiator sandals in zebra-print and sweet buttery-leather contrast straps are too good to be true. Shoedish will purchase them as a pair and wear them separately. You, however, can do whatever you please.

saucony and the olympic hopefuls

Magdalena Lewy Boulet earned a spot on the U.S. Olympic team by finishing second in the 2008 Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials held in Boston last month to secure her participation in the Beijing Olympic games this summer. If that weren’t reason enough for the native of Poland, who became a US citizen in 2001, she has now been signed to a multiyear endorsement deal by leading athletic shoe company, Saucony. Saucony also supports the Olympic hopefuls Molly Huddle, Alicia Shay, and Gabe Jennings. Richie Woodworth, president of Saucony, said in a company statement, “Everyone at Saucony is very excited that Magdalena is joining our family of athletes.” The ProGrid Trigon 5, featured here, is a favorite of Olympic hopeful Molly Huddle. Who else is super excited about the Summer Olympics? We sure are!!

valentino cabaret booties

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Fall shoe trends will be bringing us a purple paradise, old world cabaret, and more studs and diamonds than our little black shoe hearts can handle. It will be a nice change of pace after all the pro-grunge and funky punk that also promises to litter the Fall 2008 and Winter 2009 shoe seasons. Dior does art deco and jazz, while Valentino focusses on the femme fatale and prettier details, like these uniquely cut booties. We like a little punk, a little rock steady, and color punch, but it’s nice to have the old classics, Parisian affairs, and charming sex kitten heels to sink your toes into every once in a while.
