Designers have officially thrown all caution to the wind and decided that everything is a go. As if gladiator sandals that climb the length of your shin weren’t extreme enough, they’re adding an extra bit of frill with fringe-embellished fronts. Oy! Where’s Mary-Kate and Ashley when you need them; they’re certain to be owning a pair of these. Thoughts? Opinions? What do you think of these fringed gladiator sandals? Are they Pocahontas Chic or Indiana No? If the latter, you don’t need to continue reading…if you likey like, though, you’ll be happy to know that they’re currently available at LF Online for $110.

Marabou fluff and parrot quills are a loud statement for the 2008 shoe season, like what we saw on the runways at Alexander McQueen, and we’re not taking a little feather-vamped, parrot-frothed, fuzzy-piped action here either. Designers are throwing out all the rules this year and complimenting their feather doused frocks with none other than feather-skin shoes. These sexy heels from Patrick Cox graced the pages of The Shoe Dish late last year, but we’re bringing them up again merely to prove a point about foreshadowing. Wait until you see proof in the Alexander McQueen feather-coated bootie. Feathers will soon rule the shoe world! Who knew that tarring and feathering would one day be the platform for high fashion?

Writers are constantly trying to break the mold, create the next best thing, and write…well, differently. Writers are told that in order to break the rules of grammar and punctuation you must first, fully understand these rules. In other words, you can’t unintentionally write incorrectly and toss it up to experimental writing. The same can be said of fashion as well. We’ve been bombarded of late with a handful of broken fashion rules - designers trying to recreate the core of what we think of us as high street fashion - has given way to not only white after Labor Day, but clashing color and pattern combinations, socks with sandals, and boots that are so cut up and out that you can’t even recognize them as a boot. Fashion is reinventing itself in the new millennium and if you want to keep up you’ll need o learn the basic rules and ultimately throw in the towel on you traditional fashion thinking. If you’re still matching your purse to your shoes ala Fran Drescher in The Beautician and the Beast, you have a long way to go.
*These red courts from Belstaff aren’t exactly fashion freaks, but watch Belstaff carefully as they launch their Fall Collection for a roundup of truly modern shoes.

Color clash meets pattern splash with the likes of favorite couture designers Dries Van Noten and thanks to Sex and the City, this trend will be on the tips of every fashionistas tongue and more importantly in their pretty shoes. This style takes a little more of a fashion truth or dare, but if you’re one of the few who don’t fear the color, this is a trend for you. For clothes, it’s a more traditional miss mash - colorful oversized flower patterns (think your grandma’s couch from the 60s) meet a leopard-print coat or better yet, another flower-patterned coat in some viciously auspicious pattern that can’t help but strangle the first - but in shoes, the look is much more fun, a little more blended, and outrageously cool. These pattern-blend heels from Dries Van Noten are a new favorite of The Shoe Dish. There isn’t a ton of room for mistakes when the designers do all the color-blending for you.
