More summer raffia fun and this time the pom poms are coming to you straight from Hollywould. These festive Spanish fiesta-style thongs are complete with multi-colored raffia stitching across the vamp straps and orange bobble vamp embellishment. If the raffia overload of runway fashion was a little much for your shoe sensibilities, these sandals make the raffia trend a bit easier to swallow. Fun, festive, and maybe slightly over-priced for thongs, these beach worthy, summer friendly flip flops will have your toes doing somersaults in the sand. It’s pretty amazing, after all, how a little leather and raffia can loosen your purse strings.

Payless has taken a page from Rainbow Bright and lacquered its pretty summer sandals in skittle-brights and candy glam. These ‘Hollis’ peep-toe sandals are only one of the pretty, shiny, and glossy patent summer brights available from the affordable shoe retailer. We’re crushing on the juicy yellow and bold turquoise double-strap sandals from the candy glam collection as well. Starting at $14.99 and maxing out at $17.99, these peeps are an affordable way to throw some color in your shoe life. If you haven’t noticed by now, this summer is all about three very distinct and bright colors and they are fuchsia, turquoise, and yellow. Payless makes it easy and super cheap to get all three fantastically trendy colors into your summer shoedrobe. Payless, it’s like the Forever 21 of shoes!

Maybe it’s just us, but does it seem that we’ve been neglecting our dear friend Christian Louboutin lately? Me thinks so! Well, that’s a trend that certainly needs to end and lucky for us and CL - he’s got a number of summer and fall sandals and platforms, as well as what looks like a fabulously fun winter roundup - there are some shoes that are worth mentioning. These suede cut-out booties, for example, are the cream of the Christian Louboutin shoe crop, the creme de la creme of the fashion elite, and have officially found there way onto shoedish’s ‘WANT IT’ list. We’re a fan of the name, ‘zipped’; the texture, suede; and the style, platform, cut-out, and bootie. This shoe is missing its signature red sole, but it’s still making shoedish blush. Anyone else want to jump on this shoe boat?

A shoe thought from Portugal. What many don’t know about Portugal is that it is the 2nd largest manufacturer of leather shoes in the world, coming 2nd only to Italy of course. Mainstream designers like Timberland and Rockport have long been doing the majority of their production here, while some of shoedish’s favorites like Eley Kishimoto and Lulu Guinness also produce here almost exclusively. Lured here by Portugal’s high-quality production capabilities, young shoe designers are flocking in droves. José Nèves is one such designer who saw Portugal as a shoe base, opening the Calzeus factory in 1994, when he was still in his early 20s. Nèves is the brains behind the popular B Store in London’s Savile Row, Swear, and he produces and distributes shoes for Eley Kishimoto and Nicole Farhi, among others. We’re liking on these burlap and patent spectator booties from B Store, just another reason to appreciate Portugal, shoes, and the upcoming fall shoe season.

Shoedish is back!!!! We’re so sorry for being away so long - we hadn’t planned on it - but we were having some serious issues getting an internet connection at our last stop. Shoedish was spending a last hurrah weekend in Lisbon, Portugal - the city of Seven Hills (7 Colinas), but better known to shoedish as the 2nd largest manufacturer of shoes in the world and the place where we bought a very cute pair of wedges - with her very dear friend, LK (who has now officially left Barca and we’re sad…). Things are beginning to happen very quickly and shoedish doesn’t like it. We are brightened by the fact that our pal, L (the original) and Mama Sheila will be here soon and after that it’s time for the fam! Yay for shoes, family and friends, and of course the ability to travel. Bleh, I know, but we’re feeling a little bit sentimental.
Now that we’re back, we plan on shoving shoe right down your starving throats, starting with these oh-so-lovely and super sexy ridges heel platform sandals from Brian Atwood. Oh, it’s good to be back!
