the poetry of shoes

It was time to go. I was almost ready.
I did not move slow. I was fast as a jet zooming.
I took a quick bath. I brushed all my teeth.
I put on my clothes. And combed my hair neat.

I was going downstairs. So that I could eat.
But first I had to get shoes for my feet.
I’d wear my new shoes. All shiny and red;
And sparkly too; With thin straps of blue.

I looked on my dresser.?I looked on my chair.?
I looked in the closet. The shoes were not there.
Peered under the bed; And around the floor;
Yet, I could not see my new shoes anymore.

How could I lose my beautiful shoes??
So shiny and red…And sparkly too?
Then, I heard Mom say, “Come downstairs.
Your breakfast is ready.” But I didn’t care…

‘Bout breakfast that is. I needed my shoes.
So shiny. So red. So sparkly too!
Oh where, oh where could my little shoes be?
Where could I have left them? Oh my! Oh me!

I was taking long now; No more speedy me.
I was going too slow now; As slow as could be.
So sad and depressed. I went down the stairs.
To tell mom my new shoes had vanished some where.

But when I got down there my shoes I did see.
At the foot of the staircase just for me.
I was so happy. I was so relieved.
I grabbed them and kissed them and gave them a squeeze.

pat field for payless

We may not be able to own any of the shoes that the Sex and the City girls strut in the movie, but we can still get the signature Pat Field - designer extraordinaire to the ladies - looks for rather affordable prices. Pat Field for Payless hit just in time for the movie and this Summer 2008 Collection is full of sparkling summer style. If you haven’t checked out these great styles, from metallic turquoise pumps and shiny gladiator sandals to white flats and simple slides, than what are you waiting for? They’re offered at rather steep prices as far as Payless goes (up to $35) but I guess thats the price you pay for SATC looks.

eco-friendly ankle boot from coclico

An eco-friendly ankle boot from Coclico. Oh yes, there’s that word again. Eco-friendly killed the polluted manufacturing star. There’s nothing wrong with a little plant love when it comes to shoe manufacturing and though these boots are still crafted with leather, there treatment is done with the planet’s best interest at heart. Coclico shoes are treated with tanning agents derived from vegetables, fruits, and seeds, which make them more environmentally friendly than the average chemical based tanning agents. We can support that. What else is great about these ankle booties from Coclico? Uh, well, they’re filled with a bunch of cut-outs too. Long live the extreme cut-out. Shoedish, can you please move on?

celebrity shoe star: gwyneth paltrow

And the Celebrity Shoe Star is…Gwyneth Paltrow. Working to prove that motherhood has not had an affect on her sex appeal, actress and wife of Coldplay singer, Chris Martin, has been stepping out in style these days. And her shoe fetish has been well documented for all to see. Walking the red carpet on the whirlwind promotion circuit of Iron Man alongside fellow actor starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth has been shining in booties, sky high stilettos, and all the extreme cutout gladiator sandals she can get her hands on. We approve! Keep up the good shoe work Gwen! We almost forgot that you named your kids Apple and Moss.
