What hurts the most, is being so close. Sometimes that’s what is the most painful for dear shoedish. We love shoes more than we love our health, of course, but sometimes a shoe dream will just never be. If we could have every shoe that we ever wanted, there wouldn’t nearly be the love and devotion we feel today. Sometimes I wonder what it’s like to be a celebrity or just a genuinely wealthy person who can own anything they want. While the one side of my shoe brain thinks how wonderful that may be, the other part realizes how boring life would be if we could have everything. Call us crazy, but there’s nothing better than a new pair of shoes that you worked so incredibly hard for. Yesterday I saw these pretty sandals from YSL and my first thought was, Wow, I love you, which was followed quickly by, Someday I will own you. Now, that my shoe fiends, is true shoe love.

Two nights ago, shoedish battled it out with her fateful friend karma…and lost. We’re good people, but something happened that sent our fate into a tail spin. The problem with believing in karma is that everything you do is connected, so that when something bad happens, whether it happens to you or someone close to you, you wonder what it was that you did wrong. My karma is an energy so strong that it infects the people around me, rubbing off on those I love like a disease…well, not always a disease because i have good karma too. Either way, we’ve decided it’s time to cleanse our karma and in order to best cleanse the shoedish karma we have decided to withhold the food of our soul by fasting from shoes. So, for the month of July, shoedish will not be allowed to purchase a pair of shoes. Want to join the shoe karma cleanse? We welcome the support. Let us know your progress.
Update: OMFG! Shoedish has found her new solemate in the form of embossed snakeskin peeps from Nine West. This is going to be very hard…

It’s been a while since we’ve done a shoetard post. I guess the shoes have just been too pretty these last few months to notice any disasters. And then we saw these…Ew! As much as I love Kim Cattrall and the rest of the Sex and the City ladies, this is a serious shoe misstep. What, oh dear shoe lord, what was she thinking when she slipped these on and walked out her front door? Don’t these ladies have superstar stylists? Doesn’t she have a girlfriend who could say, No!?!! We talk a lot about the guillotine of stems, that terrible cut-your-legs-off-look that leg lacing and high ankle straps do, even to woman with very nice legs. Very few woman can wear high-legged ankle straps and pull it off, after all, and this is a perfect example of not pulling it off. Yikes! Kim Cattrall was spotted in these gladiator-esque Givenchy stilettos at the opening of the harrods summer sale in Knightsbridge.

A continuation.
…Hers are. Kick, he says, off with the shoes! She does, fingers through his like lacing and his hand breaks from hers, unlaces stocking from garter, quick as a polish cloth snapping. Take off your shoes, she says. I want you naked as a woman. I like hair on shoulders, I like mirrors when they tangle light. Outside sirens shear light as if a swerve of polish could unmirror sheer dark, the man and woman whispering, always wear lace! Do you like my shoes?
