In todays eco-friendly, save the planet, use of sustainable energy kind of world, ethical fashion is the newest trend and green footwear is only the tip of the friendly fashion ice berg. How are these shoe plants for ‘going green’? Don’t get too excited just yet…you can’t actually wear these shoes around trying to make a statement. You can, however, display them in your home. Eco-friendly shoe art!!! These ornamental shoes from Finnish artist, Anni Rapinoja Taidekoulutus, are made from sustainable greenery. Pretty cool, right? Maybe it’s a bit odd, but we can’t knock an artist with green passion, especially when there are shoes involved. We don’t know about you, but we think it’s pretty freakin’ cool.

Spring 2009 is heating up on the runways and yellow is one of the big colors yet again. The yellow Not Rated pumps, called Sidestep, will be available from the Not Rated spring collection, along with a brood of other like-minded rock ‘n’ roll styles.

Nicholas Kirkwood is set to handle two big collections outside of house this upcoming season, starting as the accessories director for Italian fashion house, Pollini, but the style brains don’t stop there as Kirkwood steps up to design the spring 2009 footwear collection for Alberta Ferretti. The 28-year-old British designer launched his own line in 2005 to huge success and that high standard will stick with him on these new adventures. “This is an opportunity to reinvent a brand,” he said. “It’s a great challenge.” While at Pollini, Kirkwood will be joined by fellow British designer, Jonathan Saunders. The 100+ style collection was unveiled at FFANY in New York last week.
