Thanks to The Shoe Dish reader, Sandy, for pointing out these pretty Louboutin look-a-likes from the fall collection at Payless. Has shoedish mentioned how much we love Payless? These pretty side cut-out peep-toes are channeling one of shoedish’s favorite designer shoe styles this season - we mentioned just last week - from that high street designer with the famous red bottomed shoes. We covet the Louboutin, but until we reach that fantasy we’ll settle for pretty knockoffs like these. These sweet champagne stilettos almost fill that designer shoe void that keeps us up at night. Complete with metallic gold piping and a 3-inch heel these shoes will make your feet just as splendidly fancy whether you’re strutting across a hometown dance floor, New York City restaurant, or the Emmy Awards themselves.

Shoedish was catching up on some old clippings from Kent Ward’s column yesterday. For those of you who don’t know, Ken Ward is a funny columnist for the Bangor Daily News, who tackles everything from statistics of lightning to the crack down of self expression and he does it all in a cleverly amusing voice. Shoedish has been a fan of Kent Ward for years and we happen to know other readers on the very fringe of this down east readership who are devoted to the column…there’s our little Kent Ward shoutout. But, to get to the point here, his OpEd on the last weekend in July concluded - with a toe wiggle at a topic we discuss all too often on The Shoe Dish and other shoe and fashion blogs of the - that white tube socks should die out as a common fashion staple. Making a claim against fining and even arresting saggy-pant wearers, Ward thinks that we should be more focussed on those who choose to wear white socks in public saying, “There’s your real menace to society, right there.” Amen Kent Ward, shoedish is right there with you…but we’ll add that all socks, black, white, blue, red are wrong, wrong, wrong when worn with sandals!!!

As shoedish preps for the return of the best show on television, we find ourselves being drawn to everything that even vaguely hints to high school days filled with all the stereotypes we imagine for privileged private schools. Shoedish loved high school, but we would have really loved high school in plaid mini skirts, knee socks, and platform mary janes. We should mention here, that we don’t care if it’s all a bunch of fictional crap, we eat it up none the less. These sexy, school master chic, peep-toe tassel loafers from BCBG, available at Macy’s, are the shoes we’d have worn while we made out with our too-good-to-be-true boyfriend Dan, as we sat in the quad with our daughter-of-a-designer best friend, while texting our teenage-pimp step brother using our iPhone. T - 7 days!! Get ready for the new Monday night; Gossip Girl starts next Monday!!! OMFG!
