We spotted Carmen Electra wearing the Cannel fall favorite strappy mary jane and thought, Eeeeek!!!! Maybe it’s just us or the very unfortunate angle of the camera or maybe it’s just the fact that Carmen’s feet are just super small, which seems to be proportionately unfortunate to her legs, but these shoes are not getting any justice here? When we first saw them on the runway, we thought they were spectacular - you know how shoedish feels about her mary janes - but now we’re questioning their versatility. Maybe they’re just the daisy dukes of shoes - a great idea for a select few - and should be worn with caution. Luckily you can try them out without throwing out a whole months rent because they’ve be copified by gojane.com. Here’s a great argument for designer knockoffs!

You better work!! We were a little nervous about the VMAs this year. Seasons past have brought about some high expectations and utter disappointment, but we must say that this year was pretty good! Christina Aguilera was the star of the night, Pink’s performance was spectacular, Rihanna was sexy and outstanding and even Britney Spears looked good. The shoe stars of the night were the regular style studs. Of course, Rihanna stood out as a stiletto queen, studded peep-toe booties ruled the red carpet, and Katy Perry stepped out - we question the shorts, but idolize the fuchsia pumps - as a unique style maven. All in all, well done stars and well done MTV.

Lately, we haven’t been showing Christian Louboutin much shoe love and it’s not because we’ve stopped loving him. The truth is that Louboutin has gotten a little bit dry. CL rocketed onto the young hollywood trend market with his stacked-heel peep-toe and there’s been little creativity since that. There have been a few other hits; the hairy t-strap, the bow-heeled classic pump, and that coveted rock steady studded boot and mary jane equivalent, but all in all it’s been a remake of that platform peep-toe…until now. This boot reminds us why we love Christian Louboutin and it’s not because he makes trend whore styles for the fashion elite, but because his shoes are classic and beautiful and unique. This is the perfect be all to this seasons boot trend; a bootie with feminine sophistication and pure electricity. Who knew an ankle buckle could present such pure boot poetry.

Happy Monday shoedishers!! Today, shoedish is going back, back, back to school my shoe fiends and we’re tres tres excited!!! As we said once before, we are lovers of school so today is a good day with or without any other positive notes, but what makes the day even better, as is often the case, is a day filled with pretty shoes and it just so happens that we’ve stumbled across some valedictorians. The shoes at Bebe just keep getting better and better. Shoedish became a devoted fan last season, but we’re even more excited for the newly minted round. These pretty gladiator inspired platform sandals come straight off the summer shoe wagon and will wear you all the way through first semester. We love a shoe that’s willing to do a little work.

It’s a boot, it’s a peep-toe, no, it’s a peep-toe shoe bootie from Steve Madden. If you’re looking for the ‘It’ shoe for fall, this, my shoe friends, is it. Slouchy boots that can be dressed up or down, peep-toes worn with tights (yes, this look is still making headway) and booties are all you need to score a gold star in the shoe star academy so pick up a few key pieces, like these grey booties, and you’ll be set for fall. We love the cowl-neck feel of the suede quarter and the oversized buckle embellishment, but we love best of all is the versatility. Has anyone noticed how much props we’ve been giving to our frenemy Steve Madden lately. We’re not sure what is going on…it must be the dry air and green chile.
