shoedish gets a tattoo

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Shoedish secured her place in shoe fashion history yesterday and quite possibly crossed the line between normal shoe love and full fledged cult obsession…we’re talking some serious shoe addiction topped off with a psychotic mania in all things high heel. Shoedish would never tattoo a name on her body, but she sure as heck would tattoo a shoe. When you secure you’re love in skin you know it’s for real. Can I get a hoorah!?!!!! That’s right, my shoe friends, fiends, and fellow freaks, shoedish has a shoe tattoo on her ped. We’ve been planning it for a while and trying to get the perfect balance of abstract tattoo and shoe and here’s what we came up with. Do you see the heel? It’s done! Permanent shoe love!

…and you thought the crazy voice behind shoedish was merely a character.

ask shoedish: the fitflops movement

fitflop-traditional.png

L informed shoedish of a new phenomenon taking place in the NYC. Here’s a case of the ugly comfort shoe making waves on the casual notion of fitness. Bleh! The FitFlop has landed and thanks to long commutes and Oprah’s new summer edition of her “Favorite Things” a million women are sporting the new comfort thongs. As you may have guessed, shoedish is not convinced. FitFlops? Really? Can someone please explain to me in a physiological way, how this is possible? Well, shoedish did a little research and here’s what we’ve uncovered. The FitFlop is designed with a new patent-pending midsole technology that uses a micro-wobbleboard that acts to challenge your foot and leg muscles with every step. Think pilates for your shoes. Independent testing has shown an increase in muscle response for your butt, thighs, hamstrings, and calves. You’ve probably heard the arguments in support of the pro-barefoot movement - a crusade we disapprove of merely as a matter of principle - and FitFlops claim that their sandals are like walking barefoot without actually walking barefoot, improving your gait with added support, comfort, and protection. We’re willing to take a closer look - comfort shoes do have a place in the shoe world, however minor that may be - but we will add that this movement seems to be coming out of NYC, where only a year ago there was a Times article in staunch protest against the rubber flip flop. How very fickle of you…

the return of the piano shoe

Originally uploaded by shoedish

In the flighty fashion world, when you’re out, you’re out…until you’re back again that is. We’re all hypocrites. Whoever though that high-waisted jeans, pegging, and bouffant hair would ever come back? Today, the fashion rewind is as normal and fashionable as rehab and comebacks. The spectator, mary jane, and oxford is a classic look at how a little tweak there and some embellished touches here can change the minds of even the most fickle fashionistas. Apparently Old Hollywood had it right the first time. Here’s another return to the classic. It’s the definitive piano shoe from Aldo’s new fall collection, feminized for stylish women. Holla!!! This pretty lace-up oxford fits the current school girl trend and is a clear black meets white movement. Gotta love the old meets new.
