What else in new for fall? Well, we wouldn’t exactly call it new, but it’s certainly fantastic none-the-less. This new shoe season has brought about an ant farm of lovely duds and shoes to match, from fringed moccasins to traditional mary janes and all the t-straps and oxfords in between, but one trend we’ve yet to discuss in detail is that of snakeskin. Snakeskin is one of those trends that seems to always remain on the back burner, like a steady flame that’s ready to burst into a full fledge fire at any time, and fall 2008 seems to be providing just the right level of oxygen it needs. These bold colored snakeskin mary janes are satisfying a very serious sweet tooth that shoedish has developed and with the platform and mary jane it’s a solid piece of candy. The best part about these snakeskin, almond-toe, mary janes from Wanted is that they’re crazy affordable. At $50 a pop - and that’s not even the sale price - these shoes are simply dreamy.

Mocky mocky, we like sauki. Okay, so that has nothing to do with these fringe boots from Minnetonka Moccasins, but it sounded good at the time. How are you doing with the struggling economy? “Global containerized trade will slow this year, and recover possibly in the middle of 2009. But for the end of this year, we’ll see negative growth, and the numbers for next year are likely to be 0 to 3 percent.” warned Robert Sappio, senior vice president of TransPacific Trade for APL Ltd., at the recent Footwear Traffic Distribution and Customs conference held September 14 through the 17th. A sluggish economy, high shipping costs, and increased border security were on the minds of members of the FDRA, where the threat of a continued slow economy were on everyones minds. “There’s turmoil globally, not just in the U.S.,” Sappio said, “Consumer confidence is down everywhere, and Europe has had significant deterioration in retail sales.” How has the current economic situation hit you and your buying habits? Will your shoe shopping be effected in the tumultuous year to come? Discuss…
