nike airforce one does comic-inspired kicks

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Continuing with the comic-to-video theme we started with our Heroes rant earlier this morning, shoedish has an important preview for fans of all things comic and hero. With the incredible success of graphic films, like The Dark Knight, at the box office it was only a matter of time before clothing, footwear, and accessories jumped aboard the money train. Beginning Monday, September 29th, LimitedSoles.com, will be releasing DC Comics-licensed, limited edition Nike Airforce One kicks inspired by Batman, Joker, and Superman. The release number for each style will be dependent on the year the character came to existence. For example, 1,939 pairs of the Batman edition will be made to represent the birth year, 1939, of Batman, while there will be 1,940 pairs of the Joker model and 1,938 of Superman. Each shoe will be individually numbered for authenticity.

nicholas kirkwood: “i die”

nicholas-kirkwood-i-die.jpg

Following the “I Die” line from below, we must continue our fortuitous luck when it comes to the love of shoes with these pretty platforms from Nicholas Kirkwood. I Die!!! Seriously! These are the most spectacular shoes we’ve seen in months! I die! I die! I die!! Nicholas Kirkwood was trained at both St Martins and the prestigious Cordwainers College, but he began his career at the tender age of 18, working under the renowned Philip Traecey. In an impressive nod at his knowledge of design and construction, Kirkwood designed most of his first collection, from 2005, by hand. Nicholas Kirkwood basically defines everything that shoedish loves about shoes. His shoes are not only architecturally sound, but they’re designed less as an accessory - a fashion appetizer - and more as the main course. Kirkwood has shoe ganas, which is why we covet - fantasizing on a daily basis about decorating our stems with his gorgeous designs - and love Nicholas Kirkwood.

heroes makes shoedish go barefoot

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Good morning sole sisters! So, shoedish is dazed and confused after watching the season premiere of Heroes last night. What? Can someone please tell me what is going on? If you’re wondering the reason for our delayed viewing of the coolest show ever, let us explain. We’re having a slight Tivo issue. Dual-tuner DVR’s and conflicting tastes have left our single TV household in disarray and shoedish was forced to tape a second airing of the comic supershow. The problem has gotten so bad, in fact, that we’ve considered buying a new TV and VCR - that’s right, kickin’ it old school with a ludite-like VCR - just to carry the brunt of a heavy fall season premiere recording regimen. If you’re wondering what all this has to do with shoes, well nothing really. It’s National Stay at Home Week and since shoedish is following suit with an American TV tradition, we’re simply going barefoot.

rachel zoe, piperlime, and really great shoes

Say what you will about Rachel Zoe, but the woman has scored some serious points in The Shoe Dish book of late. We’ve been watching her new show on Bravo and we must say that she is an extremely likable character and seems to be - in the Devil Wears Prada world of high celebrity fashion - a very decent and sensitive woman. She’s good, understanding, and patient with her small staff and extremely business savvy; hey, anyone who can turn celebrity styling into a truly lucrative art form deserves a round of applause. We certainly can’t diss her for branding herself into an extraordinary living, however honest or not that may be. We’ll even suggest that Zoe take notes from other brandworthy celebrities like Paris Hilton and design shirts with her growing dictionary of mantra’s like “I Die” and “J’adore”. Hey, if Paris Hilton can make money off “That’s Hot” than Rachel Zoe should profit from her over usage of “I Die”.
