Alejandro Ingelmo, the designer famous for taking men’s shoes to a whole new level, has made his way into shoedish’s fickle shoe heart and this new collection, filled to the brim with metallics, embossed patents, and all the booties and platform pumps your heart can endure is getting all the applause from this shoe whore. Ingelmo is no stranger to design. A young, Cuban-American, whose family is packed full of three generations of experience in the shoe trade has taken his knowledge of vintage and injected it with a dose of pop culture. While Alejandro Ingelmo is making waves with his basket-weave hi-tops for men, we’re focussing on his colorful brights, platforms, and shine injected women’s footwear line. Could this be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between the sophomore designer and his faithful shoe followers? Shoedish certainly thinks so. Check out the full collection, including a wonderful men’s line, online.

One of shoedish’s pet peeves is when people compare one thing to another. For example when people say that Ron Currie is the new William Faulkner or Jay Cutler is the next John Elway or Shoedish is the next Manolo Blahnik…er, wait, we like that comparison. But, you get what we’re saying. That said, we’re going to do a little comparison of our own and say that we always thought that Terra Plana was a little reminiscent of Irregular Choice. That’s a compliment, if anyone was wondering. This little quilted wonder is a beautiful pump worthy of being a staple in your closet and is just one of the wonderfully unique Terra Plana fall collection. What we love about this classic pump is that it’s made from recycled quilts from Pakistan and Bangladesh, which means that every pair is different! Cool! You know how shoedish loves a unique pair of shoes!

Call us crazy - we’re sure the fur will fly on this on - but, yuck!!! We realize that any peeked-toe shoe stands very little chance with shoedish, but these pointy-toe booties from Carlos by Carlos Santana are just a gaudy mess of ickiness. Thoughts? Opinions? This is like the Wicked Witch of the West met Prince, in a fantastical world where everyone is a cowboy and tacky, wacky, and true is the “It” trend for fall 2008. Does that explanation show how bad these shoes are or shall we try harder? We will say one thing, we like the oversized heel wrap buckle. In fact, this shoes has all the makings of a spectacular piece of pretty peep, if only it weren’t for that massive beak protruding from the toe. Peeked-toe heels are flattering on most women, but when you trip and fall flat on your face because of a 4-inch toe, you’ll be slightly less than a shoe queen…but please feel free to argue with us…
