Here’s to the modern ladies that lunch! As you all well know by now, shoedish loves loud and obnoxious shoes. We’re not the type of person who really needs our shoes to do the talking for us, but it can’t hurt to have a wingman who has your best interest at heart. We posted these pretty peep-toe slingbacks from Betsey Johnson a while back, but we’re happy to see that they are finally on sale at Endless.com. These pretty, fuchsia heels are complete with BJ’s signature flora, embroidered with a unique floral design and topped off with metallic accents and sequins in a gorgeous 3-D inspiration. These may be too loud for the traditional lady who lunches, but we’re out to redefine that classically subtle culture.

Have we told you lately that we love you? Have we told you there’s no one else above you? Fill my heart with gladness, take away all my sadness, ease my troubles that’s what you do. For the morning sun in all its glory, greets the day with hope and comfort too. You fill my life with laughter and somehow you make it better; ease my troubles that’s what you do. There’s a love thats divine and it’s yours and its mine, like the sun at the end of the day, we should give thanks and pray to the one, to the one…These bootie beauties from one of our favorite designers, Giuseppe Zanotti, are making us feel dizzy and faint. It’s that same feeling most women get when they meet a new man, have a crush, or kiss someone for the first time; that tingly, butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of feeling you get that makes you feel all warm and nervous. This is a feeling we reserve for shoes and these peep-toe lace-up booties in particular.

Even the affluent are starting to feel the pinch. That’s what the latest survey of Affluence & Wealth in America by American Express Publishing and Harrison Group, an annual survey taken of the 10% of American families who are considered affluent and wealthy. Over 71% of those surveyed America’s said that the current economic situation, especially the real estate and banking crisis has affected their sense of financial security. In fact, 6 out of 10 of those surveyed said they are worried about running out of money. So, what’s this say about designer fashion and high street couture? “The economic difficulties of the past year have begun to significantly change the way America’s most financially successful families view their future,” said Jim Taylor, vice chairman of the Harrison Group, of the survey. “The affluent and wealthy, who account for 50% of U.S. consumption, are becoming more thoughtful, getting on top of their spending and worrying more about the future of their children. Nearly half of our respondents are owners of or senior officers in American businesses, so we expect the growing caution to spill over into capital and human resources decisions.” Uh oh! It just gets worse and worse!! Looks like even the uber wealthy may soon turn to designer knockoffs.

And the Celebrity Shoe Star is…Alicia Keys!!! Here’s another woman that shoedish admires both for her character and shoe collection. Alicia Keys is a triple threat to the celebrity norm; a woman who has mastered her musical gift, is beginning to design a lucrative acting career, and philanthropist using her celebrity name to step up as a global ambassador for to be a global ambassador for Keep a Child Alive. Keys has won eleven Grammy Awards and just last month was inducted, by the Billboard Hot 100, as an All Time Hot 100 Artist. She is one of the only musicians of her generation to be mentioned. Alicia Keys’ 3rd studio album, As I Am, was released this year and she can be seen in the screen adaptation of the bestselling novel, The Secret Life of Bees, starting October 17th.

What is the deal with Louis Vuitton and monogramming? I mean, really? Whether it be in the form of a decorative suede button or embroidered silk satin, Louis Vuitton loves his name. We actually like LV shoes, but we’d like them even more if there wasn’t a sign across every product that let the world know you were wearing LOUIS VUITTON. Why don’t you just tattoo the monogram to your foot and ankle and just done with it already. Ugh! It’s so pretentious. Now, onto the good, shall we? Both these peep-toe heels from the vanity king are complete with some of the best materials in the world and we’re loving the subtle flavor of the purple suede and oversized cross-vamp button. The black and white silk embroidered slingback was inspired by Piccadilly square; a juxtaposition of trendy tourist attractions and old London flavor. Now, if they could just get rid of the LV tag, they’d be sitting shoedish pretty.
