Shoedish was a women obsessed this week with all things designer; attaching ourselves to all the photos emerging from the Spring/Summer 2009 fashion shows and trying to defend our stiletto turf. It seems, my shoe fiends and stiletto queens, that stilettos have been getting a bad rap this year as designers create styles that are so high that even professional models can’t walk in them without falling. It all started with a few missteps and stumbles at the Prada show, but now every newspaper and fashion media blog has picked up on the woes of the heel. Everyone knows that wearing a stiletto isn’t natural for the foot, but women have long been suffering in the name of high fashion. Where exactly do they think the name “fainting couch” came from. I’m almost positive that tightlacing in body modification is much more dangerous than the chronic wearing of high heels. Let’s refocus our attention on how pretty they are and not what they do to our bunions.
*Pictured here are a pair of stiletto platforms from the Spring/Summer 2009 Prada show; the show that made a model fall on her bum.

What? Did you really think that 4 days without the mention of a cut-out, peep-toe, bootie meant you were off the hook with this trend. Tricky, tricky! Shoedish may have been all caught up with runway fashion and Spring/Summer 2009 this week, but my dearest little shoe pets, we have not forgotten about fall 2008 and the bootiest boot trend of all time. These pretty peep-toe, extreme cut-out, oxfords from Nine West are flipping our rooty tooty, fresh and fruity Friday! These oxford booties have some serious fall flavor, complete with animal print and the perfect name to match. The ‘Ohmygosh’ from Nine West is the perfect example of how menswear made for women is so hot. We loves!!

Now here’s an interesting shoe from Topshop. These Poirot Premium t-straps are garnering mixed emotions here at The Shoe Dish. I think are main problem is the sole. It looks a little too athletic and casual for this shiny dress up shoe. Of course, we can’t really complain about a solid grip. Everyone likes to have something to hold on to and you probably can barely see the teeth of the rubber grips when they’re actually on your feet. Hmm….thoughts? Opinions? Knotted t-bar, funky sport stripe color blocking, and metallic. What’s making it or breaking it for this Fridays ‘Opinions Please’ shoe?
