Shoedish was woman obsessed this week with all things designer designer; attaching ourselves to all the photos emerging from the Spring/Summer 2009 fashion shows and trying to defend our stiletto turf. It seems, my shoe fiends and stiletto queens, that stilettos have been getting a bad rap this year as designers create styles that are so high that even professional models can’t walk in them without falling. It all started with a few missteps and stumbles at the Prada show, but now every newspaper and fashion media blog has picked up on the woes of the heel. Everyone knows that wearing a stiletto isn’t natural for the foot, but women have long been suffering in the name of high fashion. Where exactly do they think the name “fainting couch” came from. I’m almost positive that tightlacing in body modification is much more dangerous than the chronic wearing of high heels. Let’s refocus our attention on how pretty they are and not what they do to our bunions.
