Hollywould is up for sale! The brand - best known for its fun, flirty, and feminine footwear line - was purchased by Kellwood, who also owns Baby Phat and Sag Harbour , in 2006, but have decided to divest the small luxury brand from its brand list. Could the economic crisis be to blame? According to a statement from Kellwood, the firm and Holly Dunlap, creator of the Hollywould, have agreed to explore alternatives for the label. Dunlap told Footwear News that she cannot afford to buy back the brand she founded in 2000, but has received some interest from potential buyers, saying, “I would love to have someone who knows the shoe business and can really build this into an international shoe business,” adding, “Shoes are still 70 to 80 percent of our business. They’re still what we’re known for and the area that has the strongest growth potential.” Will Hollywould survive? We are keeping our fingers crossed!!

As we’ve mentioned time and time again, suede is a big texture for Fall/Winter 2008 and this material, along with the rich Parisian color palette for the upcoming holiday season, is making these pretty uber-strapped lace-up mary jane peep-toes from Nine West a solid trendsetting shoe for the end of the year. We’re liking the reinterpretation of the lace-up, combined with the modern energy of the new mary jane. These shoes look like they began life as a bootie, changed their mind and decided to become a pump, and ended up smack dab in the middle during the extreme cut-out movement. The ‘Dasolina’ from Nine West proves just how sweet modification can be.
