Shoedish had been neglecting her dear friend, Christian Louboutin, these past few months when suddenly he came at her with a force to be reckoned with. Sometimes, we must admit that we get into a designer rut. It’s like when you read a really, really, really good book and then you’re consumed with reading every book that author ever wrote. Well, Louboutin is back on top with us and we’re consumed with devouring every pair of shoes in his new collection. These python-embossed pumps from the super stiletto collection are complete with an old world, boudoir lace-up front. Modern high fashion meets vintage courtesan. Shoedish loves stilettos, but even we’re a little bit afraid of that heel. How many inches is that? The fear makes are toes tingle…in a very good way. Love the pain!!

“Fancy Footwear Steals Spotlight on LA Runways”. That’s the headline that virtually imploded our inbox this morning and we just have to laugh. They make it sound like a bad thing. It’s been a long time coming, but shoes are finally sitting pretty on their much deserved thrones, as more than just an accessory. Shoedish has long been a supporter of the shoe revolution. We think people should ditch clothes; they only distract from all the pretty shoes. We tease, we tease, we love fashion too, but we’re happy that shoes have finally made a lasting mark on the fashion industry. From Michael Antonio - who provided these cuffed, two-tone, peep-toe booties to the runway shows - to Giuseppe Zanotti, shoe designers are wetting the style whistle at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in California.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s an alien spacecraft from outer space? That’s what you might think when first stumbling upon the 7,500 square foot Mobile Art Pavilion taking up lawn space in New York’s Central Park. Mobile Art was commissioned by Chanel to serve as, what might arguably considered, a giant ad for the luxury designer brand. The structure houses works by 15 contemporary artists; works inspired by the iconic and classic quilted-style, chain handbag that was issued by Chanel in 1955. The Pavillion itself was designed by renowned London architect Zaha Hadid, and has already made stops in Hong Kong and Tokyo with planned road trips to London, Moscow, and Paris. Mobile Art Pavillion will occupy the Rumsey Playfield at 70th Street in Central Park from Oct. 20 to Nov. 9. Entrance is free.

13 days left in the countdown to a new world order! Well, at least that’s what we, over here at The Shoe Dish, are counting on. TOMS Shoes - the wonderful shoe company that donates a pair of shoes for every pair of shoes purchased - has saddled up in a bi-partisan push to support the importance of voting in this historical 2008 election. Classic TOMS does split-decision politics with these flats. No matter who gets your vote, when you purchase these shoes, everyone profits! Since May 2006 TOMS has given over 10,000 pairs of shoes to children in Argentina and 50,000 pairs in South Africa. In 2008 TOMS plans to give 200,000 pairs of shoes to children in need around the world and you can help. TOMS launched its first ever shoe drop right here in the US yesterday in Gulfport, Mississippi, proving that community charity events and world-wide shoe drops can do a lot when it comes to supporting a worthwhile cause. To see how you can help or to purchase a pair of TOMS Shoes, visit their website today!

Chew on this. Frye, the iconic boot footwear designer, gets feminine pretty with these t-strap, mary jane, box-toe pumps from their fall collection. These pumps are complete with a stacked wood heel and a hidden platform, but the one detail standing out for shoedish is that feminine ruching at the heel. This season the heels are creeping towards extravagant heights, but stacked heels and hidden platforms make that height a bit more bearable. If the claim that heels will get even higher next season is even remotely true, you might as well start getting used to it. Besides, Frye has always been hailed as a wonderfully comfortable shoe designer. Now, take a deep breath and swallow.

Yesterday, shoedish got called out (in a matter of speaking) about our use of the term “toe cleavage” to represent a pair of peep-toe booties from Jimmy Choo. While we agree that the strict definition of this term would be the revealing of the top of the toe line cause by a short vamp - the opposite of what a peep-toe does - we will defend our case by saying that shoedish often misuses definitions and misrepresents shoes as a means of fitting our daily parade of shoes. We are offended by the notion that we aren’t shoe scholars; anyone who reads this blog regularly knows that is not the case. We like to think of ourselves as the dirty politicians of shoes. We’ll say just about anything to mold a shoe into our fantasy, creata-word vision. This is our right. We’ve never pretended to be anything but hypocrites, after all. The offense came from a fun, similar-niche, blog who specializes in all things toe cleavage. We swallow our pride, wave our white flag, and give a shout out to our brothers and sisters in sole over at http://toe-cleavage.blogspot.com/. It’s a fun little place for us foot fetishers to get even more of what we love. Check them out!
