saving for next spring: unisa moira white d’orsays

Originally uploaded by shoedish

It may be a little late in the season for these Hampton’s inspired, nautical, peep-toe pumps from Unisa Moira. Shoedish isn’t one to avoid white in any season - white is a four season color - but there are several elements in this shoe that make them a not-in-winter kind of pump. That said, these shoes are on a super saver sale at DSW right now, and we’re thinking that their classic look, clean lines, and sophisticated structure makes them a safe purchase whether you can wear them right now or not. In other words, they’d make for the perfect spring storage purchase. Pull them out once the flowers begin to bloom next spring and you’ll be sitting pretty. It’s like finding $10 in those jeans you haven’t worn all summer…only waaaaay better. Check out all the goods at DSW’s Halloween Clearance sale where select styles are up to 70% off. These Unisa Moira cruise d’orsays are only $38.94.

what manolo blahnik thinks…

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Sex and the City movie hype has died down and while all those coveted shoes that made the rounds in the various outfits sported by the ladies, it was one shoe in particular that had fashionistas clawing their way through Manolo Blahnik boutiques and that was the coveted blue satin witch-buckle pump that Carrie wore to finally marry her Mr. Big. We mentioned once before that we weren’t all that impressed - it’s pretty, yes, but deserving of the attention it got, not so much. That blue pump was like the Paris Hilton of shoes; interesting enough to make you stop and think, but not based on exuberant amounts of unique consideration. It’s a shoe that got hyped based on a major detail; nepotism based solely on a name. You can imagine our excitement when we read this quote from a Footwear News interview with the famous designer. What does Manolo Blahnik think of the now-famous blue satin pump? “I’ve been doing that shoe for a million years. The only thing that changed was the buckle. It is a pretty shoe, but it isn’t particularly exciting. [I’m amazed] that you have lines of people, even in Europe, asking for this shoe.” We wholeheartedly agree!

happy heeloween

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Are you ready for a haunted Happy Heeloween? Last year, shoedish wanted to dress like a hobo. Our idea and look was inspired by our favorite show, So You Think You Can Dance, and our B-Girl dance crush, Sara. If you watch the show, you may remember the Hobo Cabaret from Season 3. Last year, we found these cat booties from Irregular Choice and the look was set. Well, our Halloween hobo dreams were crushed when we opted to take a camping trip to the the Delaware Water Gap and for the first time in years didn’t even dress up for Halloween. For a shoe lover such as ourselves, it’s all about the shoes when it comes time for Halloween costumes; we start with the shoes. From the sparkly red platforms that accompanied us on our Rainbow Bright walk of shame to the grey snakeskin knee-highs we wore for Lady Marmalade. Well, this year we’re determined to realize our hobo dreams and we’re going to use these ankle booties from London Underground to do it. Did we mention that we were going to be a very cool and trendy hobo with great shoes and purple hair? Happy Heeloween!
