designer challenge: forever 21 vs bebe vs prada

prada-knockoff.png

Thanks to The Shoe Dish reader, TJ, for bringing these midsection cutout mary jane booties from Forever 21 to our attention. These are in direct comparison to those Bebe keyhole mary booties we posted just yesterday, but if you’re looking for the true original, you’ll have to travel all the way up the luxury food chain to find the runway version from Prada. These knockoffs are almost a dead ringer for the designer style, except for that gold foil along the ruffle and mary jane strap. All in all it’s a pretty good designer reinterpretation from Forever 21. We wonder what the craftsmanship is like? Anyone own the F21 versions or better yet, anyone have the Prada? Bottom line: No matter what your price range, there’s a midsection cutout mary jane bootie out there just for you.

*Update: The Forever 21 version mary jane bootie is no longer in stock online.

vince camuto does snakeskin and shoetie

Originally uploaded by shoedish

Can we please talk about how freakin’ cute this cutout shoetie from Vince Camuto is? Anyone? This season it’s all about the snakeskin and these faux snake-print peep-toe cutout shoeties are the perfect pop to any outfit. Too cold for extreme cutouts and peep-toes? Pair these yummy bright pumps with a pair of opaque tights and you’ll be sitting pretty in trend and warmth. We did a little sale search to see where you can get these beauties the cheapest and discovered that they’re on sale at Nordstroms for $64. Not all colors are available in both colors, but if you’re aiming for the black and grey combo, you’ll be in for a sale treat. They’re also available at Shop.com, but Zappos is the cheapest if you’re looking for all sizes in the yellow version.

fall boot trends: the perfect designer duo

classic-boot-duo.png

Here are two perfect knee-high boots to add to your winter boot collection. Fulfilling the node to classic and the new trends, each of these boots does classic reinterpretation in their own unique way. No wardrobe is complete without a classic black knee-high and these boots from Valentino are taking it back to the Old American West with a modern take on the frontier boot. Sleek leather, almond-toe, and button detail make for a very “City Slicker” boot moment. Black is nice, but grey is the new neutral and these casual, slouchy, grey knee-high boots from Stella McCartney are the queen of all fall 2008 bootwear. Stella does for the shoe what Al Gore does for the environment and these couture designer boots remain true to the designers love of animal-friendly footwear. It’s an expensive duo for your fall boot wardrobe, but they may be worth that second mortgage after all.

wacky wednesday: the chocolate show

the-paris-chocolate-show.png

We usually reserve our Wacky Wednesday posts for all things shoe related, but we just had to go here. Ten years ago Sylvie Douce and François Jeantet, the CEOs of Event International, Inc., a Paris-based international marketing, press relations, and event production agency started the The Paris Chocolate Show or Salon du Chocolat, to celebrate the delicious love of all things chocolate. “Our goal is to celebrate chocolate,” notes Sylvie Douce, “to foster a richer appreciation and understanding for this wonderful, magical substance. “The Chocolate Show aims to introduce people with the many ways one can experience chocolate using all the senses!” The chocolate celebrates chocolate through many edible confections, sculptures, and fountains as well as a fashion show filled with designs made completely of chocolate. The 2008 Paris Chocolate Show is going on now, but if you can’t hop a plane to get your sugar fix, New York City will be hosting one from November 7 to the 9th. It may not be better than shoes, but it is better than lots of other things…
