Okay, so we are totally digging on L.A.M.B. this season. I mean don’t get us wrong, we’ve always been a fan of the No Doubt singer, married to hottie Gavin Rossdale, dresses like an egg for Halloween, turned designer that is Gwen Stefani, but you know how shoedish feels about celebrities doing the design thing. L.A.M.B. is making us eat our words and swallow our pride, however, with the shoes they’re churning out for the upcoming Fall 2008 season and what we’ve seen from the Spring 2009 preview. It’s a wowsers y yowsers in The Shoe Dish book!!! These peep-toe booties are rustic and weathered like an old frontier boot and their cup runneth over with straps. This is what happens when mary jane and dolly have a three-way with Benjamin Rabbit, giving birth to a brood of straps. I’m looking for a word, for a style, for some kind of fairytale quote to describe these western booties turned polygamist mary janes, but am at a total loss. I guess we’ll just have to stick to the most simple of praises; we like!

Do you remember crackle nail polish? We’re not sure why, but we’re constantly reminded of crackle nail polish when we see various textures and materials often related to shoes. Can you even buy crackle nail polish anymore? Well, in the absence of textured nails, why not texture your feet with the illusion of embossing with these pretty patent, faux-leather pumps that look snakeskin crackled, from Faith UK. We’re loving on the cut-outs - it’s as if they were going to be a slingback, but then changed their mind - and the dolly straps and that shiny metallic silver stiletto heel. These pumps are just too pretty and are the perfect pump for any occasion.
…Now, shoedish will be taking a break to search for crackle nail polish.

We were watching The Today Show last week and Matt Lauer made a comment about how unflattering hidden platform pumps were on women. Interesting conclusion, Matt. At first we considered the implications; do men really pay that close attention to our feet? Then we remembered that we don’t actually dress to impress men, we dress to impress, be flattered by, and fish for the coveted blessing of our female counterparts. Women dress to impress other women. Here’s a typical design from the style that provoked Matt’s comment. These animal-print platform pumps are from Dolce Vita and Matt’s problem seemed to be with the chunkiness of the front. Because of the hidden platform, the sole of the vamp is much thicker than the average shoe. We think they’re cute, but that’s no surprise. We might add that this particular style will become an iconic classic in about a decade, just like the mary jane. Stick to the news, Matt, and let us review the shoes.

We’re trying to decide if these gathered-vamp ballerina flats from Anthropologie look like they’ve been made from the scraps from grandma’s sewing basket or wallpaper? Guess that either way, they’re kind of a Debbie Downer, which is strange because we usually like floral prints. Maybe it’s just been one of those days - we spent the last two hours sketching shoe designs and not one could pass for a decent proposal - where everything just seems to be going wrong. Bleh! Right now, we need something that’s going to blow our shoe minds; like BLOW OUR SHOE MINDS! Questions? Concerns? Thoughts? Suggestions? Blow shoedish’s shoe mind and you’ll automatically be entered in this months shoe giveaway that has yet to be announced…
