holiday-shoes-dress.png

Yay for your office Christmas party and another New Year! Here’s shoedish’s picks for the perfect holiday dress shoes!

*Featured shoes available from Charles David, Pura Lopez, Karen Millen, Betsey Johnson, Pout Premium, Marciano, and BCBGirls.

the healing power of jimmy choo

the-healing-power-of-jimmy-choo.png

Shoedish did some serious damage to her lower back yesterday. We’re not sure how it happened, but we’ve never felt pain like this before in our entire life. Right now, we’re hoping that it’s a combination of a long run, abdominal workout, and cold weather and not a kidney infection, which unfortunately would be our luck. While we nurse our aching back and wonder if this is what it will feel like to be old, we must sadly look at our stilettos, boots, and heels with wanting admiration. Will we ever be able to wear heels again? You know the morning after reaction you have to a long night of boozing: I will never drink again? Well, that’s how we felt about stilettos this morning, until we spotted these super-sized heel Jimmy Choo sandals. Right now they’re only a fantasy, but the bright color and summer illusions, are giving us the strength to continue fighting. help shoedish get back in her heels by sending good, healing energy our way.

mary jane from dolce vita

Counted among our favorite’s in the mid-luxury brand market, shoedish is not only a proponent, but we’re a fateful user as well. These pretty, uber-strap mary janes are in a dual-tone fit for this season’s modest color show. Crude stitching and a matte finish on the hardware complete the rustic mod look. What’s great about these pretty mary janes is that they’re super comfy too. With a hidden platform and oversized, stacked-wood heel, you’d hardly know you were walking in a heel.

christmas shopping

With 3rd quarter profit numbers coming in at low earnings and record losses, the economies downturn doesn’t look to be heading up anytime soon. Coming off the heels of Macy’s record loss of $44 million, compared to last year’s 3rd quarter gain of $33 million, other big name corporations and fashion brands are bleeding from a long hard battle. Even Crocs, the company that was once seemingly untouchable, has hit a hard quarter with net revenues falling 32%. The Colorado-based, comfort footwear design company, had a net loss of $136 million, which is a harsh reality for the company who just last year saw a growth profit of $78.2 million. The only good news coming from today’s reports is of Italian based Tod’s, who saw a 13% gain in operating profits over the last 9 months. New poles shoes that 41 % of Americans plan to spend less this holiday season. With Christmas just 6 weeks away, what does that mean for our consumer-drive economy?

new in you, different in shoe: feather headbands

urban-outfitters-headband.png

Shoedish went back to her college shopping roots and visited the local Urban Outfitters for a taste of granola chic. We’ve been dating a new guy who seems to be obsessed with “hippie” and not because he is one, but because he has some adverse reaction to things of and relating to, which sometimes makes him allergic to me. Anyhow, all the hippie slams got us urging for a taste and so, against our better judgement, we went. We were walking around the shop, picking out cute apron skirts and backless tops that we knew we’d never actually buy (sorry, but shoedish doesn’t pay $98 for a skirt that used 12 inches of material) when we stumbled upon this gorgeous feather headband. OMG! We almost died when we put it on our head, because it might be the cutest accessory that we’ve ever seen. At $18 it’s not something shoedish would just buy on a whim, but we’re willing to accept it as a gift. Anyone? Christmas is just 6 weeks away, after all.

perforated sandals from derek lam

Here is more from that perforated trend running rampant. You’d think that shoes with holes would be more appropriate for summer shoe trends, of course then you’d also have to ignore that whole sandals with socks and tights with peep-toes trend as well. Apparently, fashionistas like to do it all backwards. These uber-strapped sandals from Derek Lam look like they were showered with the bullets from a miniature bee-bee gun. The perforated leather straps are complete with logo-engraved hardware on the vamp and ankle wraparound and 4.25-inch stacked heel. From Derek Lam, made in Italy, and available at eLuxury.com for a whopping $895. Phew!
