Another one bites the dust. It seems like everyday another big name company goes under. It’s like a nightmare that you can’t wake up from. Today, Steve & Barry’s - the affordable retail department store, most well know for carrying afordable celebrity brand collections like Sarah Jessica Parker’s, Bitten, Amanda Bynes, Dear, and Venus Williams, Eleven - announced that it will begin to liquidate and set going out of business sales. Steve & Barry’s began in 1985 as a college bookstore, selling cheap university apparel at the University of Pennsylvania. By 1998, they were a general mall-based department store, and in 2006 they began their push for celebrity branded apparel. You may remember that Steve and Barry’s was acquired out of bankruptcy earlier this year by Bay Harbour Management LC. The closure will affect 5,000 employees.

Shoedish used to talk a lot of trash about Ugg Australia. Actually, it was less the label than the way fashionistas decided to style them, but when it comes to shoes and fashion, we only see one side of the story. The traditional Ugg boot, filled with cozy warm shearling, serves a definite purpose. While we stand by our distaste of classic Ugg boots worn with bare legs and mini skirts, we’re in full support of pairing them with skinny jeans or mini’s and tights. Uggs, however, have taken on a new role in footwear, with there women’s fashion luxury collection. Now, we’re free to choose cute styles, like wedge boots and rustic knee-highs, all complete with a shearling center for the classic Ugg comfort that made them famous. We’ll give credit where credit is due. There aren’t a whole lot of shoes, particularly boots, that can claim to be both winter and summer comfortable.
