Are you a shoeaholic? It’s okay if you are; join the club. The Shoe Dish celebrates your obsession. If you walk by people on the street - and before you check out anything else - your eyes are instantly drawn down to the shoes, you might be a shoeaholic. If when you’re walking with a friend and they refrain from talking to you every time you pass by a shoe display in a store window, you may be a shoeaholic. If you remember days, not by the person you were with or the event you attended, but by the shoes you were wearing, you may be a shoeaholic. If you buy outfits to match your shoes, instead of the vice versa, you may be a shoeaholic. If you’d rather breathe through an arch cramp or are willing to run the risk of having mangled toes, pump bump, and nueroma, all for the sake of shoes, than you may be a shoeaholic. Addiction is defined by the inability to give up “the drug” no matter how detrimental it is to your health, relationships, and mental well-being. So, are you a shoeaholic? So, we’ve been talking, talking, talking about the implications of next years styles and it looks like sweet feminine and sophistication is the name of the game. While we love the I’m-so-high-school-styles inspired by new hit teen dramas like 90210 and Gossip Girl, we can’t help but cling to the notion of street sleek and elegant. Don’t get us wrong here, we love school girl chic - we’re totally obsessed with hair accessories right now, we’re even President of the committee working to create an official holiday for knee-highs, and plaid will never be out of style - but we’re getting a little tired of the I’m-too-small-for-my-supersized-headband ala Blaire Waldorf. I mean really? How much were we expected to take? Show us some sophistication, please. If lace-up was the boot fashion for Fall/Winter 2008 than lace is the trend for 2009. That’s right, my friends, it’s time to take that sweet Victorian fabric off those sexy dresses and cover our vamps with it. Alexander McQueen is leading the charge with gorgeous and expensive lace-quarter booties, while Manolo Blahnik has a slightly less expensive couture version as well. Nine West has a similarly pretty version, which is much more economical, especially in todays frightful economy.

Theory has always been one of those coveted boutique stores that we dream about, drool over, and fantasize about shopping in. Some day….but, until that day arrives, we’re stuck stroking the heel of their pretty stilettos, electronically, as we browse their collection while web-window shopping. You know how some people are obsessed with porn? Well, shoes are like porn for us. If we had an office job, we’d surely get fired for chronic shoe surfing.
