It’s the Old School rewind this Fall with hi-tops making an official comeback. This shoe is so popular, in fact, that designers think they can make couture versions of the shoes. While we’re skeptical that true street kicks could every function in high society, we’ll at least mention that they do exist. These designer hi-tops are from Lanvin and only cost $815. Haha, oh we just have to laugh! The only street slicks we can imagine wearing these are Justin Timberlake and Jake Gyllenhaal…if that means anything at all. Available at Barney’s in a range of colors for $815.

Last Wednesday shoedish went white water rafting for the first time in her life. It seems a strange thing that we’ve never done it before, but alas it was a first in the life of shoedish; one of those life list things we can now proudly mark off. One thing we learned was that we don’t have the appropriate gear and while we might go years without buying wet suits and dry bags, one thing shoedish hates to be without is appropriate shoes. Flip flops are out in WWR, so we wore tennis shoes and anyone who has ever taken a CPR class knows that swimming in tennis shoes is like swimming with 5 pound bricks attached to your feet. Our solution? Next time we’ll be wearing these?

The Kayenta from Teva for $70.

Salomon Light Amphibean Water Shoes for $74.99.

Not to pat ourselves on the back (though it is our birthday and we’d be completely justified in doing so) but we totally called the purple trend-a-coming a few seasons ago. While it’s been nosing around since then, purple will officially make its mark in the outdoor market this fall in light embellishments, small details, and full body. Cool e yo! Using all the shades under the purple sun, from lavender and eggplant to merlot and grape, the women’s boot market - from the rugged to the refined - will be taking on a whole new purple people eater status.

Which shoe would you choose? One of these pretty gladiator-inspired heels is a $1,245 couture design from Balenciaga, while the other is a simple knockoff version available at GoJane.com. Can you tell the difference?

And the designer shoe is…the shoe on the shoe on the right is from Balenciaga for $1,245, while the shoe on the left is from GoJane.com for $25.20. Surprised?

Footwear News reports on designer Joy Chen Kolterman for Glory Chen designs. With geometric shapes and patterns embodying her Fall 2009 Collection of shoes and handbags you’d think the designer was channeling her math class roots. “The collection’s clean lines are given a feminine touch with hardware fashioned after cosmetic brushes and compacts. The colors, too, come right out of a makeup bag, in rich iridescents, powdery blues, and glossy pinks,” reports Footwear News. Kolterman’s designs feature cushioned footbeds and refined rubber outsoles to help the working women stay comfy on her feet all day long. Available in the Glory Chen boutiques in new York and San Francisco, ranging from $325 to $ 795.
