Shoedish always gets a little bit sad when summer starts to come to an end. Packing away our gladiator sandals and toeless moccasins is a bitter sweet moment. We’ll miss you guys for the next few months, but we’re also happy to be bringing out the boots! These Jill Sander boots make the necessary sandal hibernation that much easier. Who wouldn’t want to wear this boot? This layer and fold knee-high boot is inspired by the vases of French ceramist, Pol Chambost, and are complete with a 15” boot shaft and super stiletto. Retail stocks are up, but with the Holiday season fast approaching, economist hesitate getting too excited:

There is a high risk that the American consumer will have a ‘discount staring contest’ with the department stores by delaying purchases until they see a level of discounts that they believe offers them value, says debt analyst Margaret Taylor.

Department stores have already cut holiday inventories to prepare for a weaker shopping season. As shopper’s appetites remain a wild card, the 66.8% increase in retail since March means very little. How much shopping will you do this holiday season?

Barneys has some very cool limited edition loafers from Tod’s and they’re exclusive to the high-end department store, so if you want them, you must go to Barneys! These Hampton’s cool toe drivers are complete with a herringbone apron and are available in navy (shown here) and grey. Tod’s is also bring back the penny loafer for men.
