As we all nurse our fears over the film release of a childhood classic and pray that our fantasy and imagination isn’t destroyed by someone else’s imagination and fantasy, we must also prepare for the inevitable marketing ploys and co-branding that feeds consumerism. This is America, after all. Sell, sell, sell! The first shoe brand to jump aboard the Where the Wild Things Are brand marketing wagon is, surprisingly enough, Ugg Australia. While we definitely didn’t see that one coming, we can certainly support the cause. Proceeds from the sale of these limited-edition boots will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Max’s Crown and Peeping Eyes are the inspiration behind the boot designs and come in Kid’s Classic Short and Baby Bootie. While the movie hits theaters October 16th, the boots will not be available until October 24th (for pre-order) at the Ugg Australia flagship store in New York and online.

As predicted by New York Fashion Week and the shows in Milan, designers are holding nothing back when it comes to shoes for Spring ’10. The Paris runways were packed full of gaudy, wild, and extreme, among other loaded descriptive words. Wild color pairings, oversized embellishments, and unique new designs like over-embellished sandals and monster platforms.
