footwear news achievement awards
On Tuesday, Alexandre Birman, who has been designing shoes with his father since the age of 12, was awarded the Vivan Infantino Emerging Talent Award at the Footwear News Achievement Awards. Birman’s first US collection debuted in Spring of 2008 and his designer brand will only continue to expand as he sets to launch his first flagship store in Brazil. “I have worked with shoes all my life,” said Birman. “But I am a little bit nervous, because now I have to live up to this award!” Referred to as the “Oscars of the shoe industry,” the Footwear News Achievement Awards welcome the best and the brightest of the shoe world. Also honored were elite buyers from Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, Barney’s and Nordstrom, as well as editors from top fashion media VOGUE, Vanity Fair and The Daily.
