Traditionally, ghillie brogues had loops or holes poked into the leather, rather than eyelets. Ghillie brogues look like spectator shoes that have had their tongues ripped out, but the modern take on this traditional shoe can be seen here. Caged, gladiator-inspired, and woven sandals are just among the few styles that have implemented the use of the ghillie tie to up the fashion ante. Here are just a few of our favorite spring and summer sandals featuring the ghillie tie.

It might be a little strange if we, being the shoe whore that we are, didn’t have a zillion shoe-inspired accessories as well. From chocolates and ornaments to charms and key chains, we’ve gone above the traditional “shoe”, you know, the one that goes on your foot, to show our true shoe loving colors. We currently have a pink lacquered flip flop adorning our set of keys, but being not quite so graceful with our hands than in our heels, the keys have suffered some severe falls. The lacquered finish has been almost obliterated. The cute sandal keychain has pretty much had it, which gives us the perfect excuse to buy this! From Spring Street Design Group and available at Nordstrom’s for $24.
