We’re not sure we love it, but we might be willing to say we like it. Hey, if your not going to deck the heels with stiletto height than you might as well deck them out with feminine thug love. These ghetto femme kicks from Nike are the rage this year when it comes to all things athletic casual and thug love cool. How about putting a little hard knock pink in your step. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, after all, and that means you have a whole month worth of unapologetic pink wearing. From shoes and shirts to dresses and skirts, this month it’s all about the pink. Even cereal boxes and yogurt lids have turned on the fuchsia so why not add a pair of athletic shoes to the pretty in pink collection?

Continuing with the comic-to-video theme we started with our Heroes rant earlier this morning, shoedish has an important preview for fans of all things comic and hero. With the incredible success of graphic films, like The Dark Knight, at the box office it was only a matter of time before clothing, footwear, and accessories jumped aboard the money train. Beginning Monday, September 29th, LimitedSoles.com, will be releasing DC Comics-licensed, limited edition Nike Airforce One kicks inspired by Batman, Joker, and Superman. The release number for each style will be dependent on the year the character came to existence. For example, 1,939 pairs of the Batman edition will be made to represent the birth year, 1939, of Batman, while there will be 1,940 pairs of the Joker model and 1,938 of Superman. Each shoe will be individually numbered for authenticity.

L informed shoedish of a new phenomenon taking place in the NYC. Here’s a case of the ugly comfort shoe making waves on the casual notion of fitness. Bleh! The FitFlop has landed and thanks to long commutes and Oprah’s new summer edition of her “Favorite Things” a million women are sporting the new comfort thongs. As you may have guessed, shoedish is not convinced. FitFlops? Really? Can someone please explain to me in a physiological way, how this is possible? Well, shoedish did a little research and here’s what we’ve uncovered. The FitFlop is designed with a new patent-pending midsole technology that uses a micro-wobbleboard that acts to challenge your foot and leg muscles with every step. Think pilates for your shoes. Independent testing has shown an increase in muscle response for your butt, thighs, hamstrings, and calves. You’ve probably heard the arguments in support of the pro-barefoot movement - a crusade we disapprove of merely as a matter of principle - and FitFlops claim that their sandals are like walking barefoot without actually walking barefoot, improving your gait with added support, comfort, and protection. We’re willing to take a closer look - comfort shoes do have a place in the shoe world, however minor that may be - but we will add that this movement seems to be coming out of NYC, where only a year ago there was a Times article in staunch protest against the rubber flip flop. How very fickle of you…

One of shoedish’s besties got robbed today!!!! No, not mugged, not pickpocketed, but blatant, pathetic robbing (not that pickpocketing or mugging would be any better) but it was a disastrous and painful affair and it didn’t even happen to us. In honor of L’s robbing - and courtesy of her I might add as she mentioned todays theme - we’re posting all the hottest in casual chase-down-a-bastard-thieve-shoewear, starting with these pretty running shoes from Nike and ending with these Puma street kicks. We might also add here that the shoes she was actually wearing while under attack of said thief were those very practical and pretty patent leather sandals from Payless. Some faux-leather strappy sandal flats and a little adrenaline made for a very impressive Team Catch Thief

Jeepers Creepers! Either we’ve posted these evil shoes once before or they’re haunting us. We read an interview with Posh Spice (aka Victoria Beckham) the other day where she talked about her ugly feet and loose skin (our words, because we’re not nearly cool enough to summarize in British slang). There’s no doubt that she’s skinny, but apparently Mrs. Becks has saggy skin from having three babies and refuses to go to the gym to tighten up because (and we will quote here), she “can’t wrap her mind around the footwear”. Hahahaha! That’s the best and most unique excuse we’ve ever heard for not working out. Vicki B is the original stiletto nazi and we’d expect a diehard like her to run on a treadmill in sky-high platforms, right? Anyway, the reason we bring up VB is because we believe that she is the reason for the sneaker platform comeback. It was the Spice Girls who brought them to the fashion forefront in the 90s and Vicky B was spotted wearing a similar pair to her sons soccer game less than a year ago. Well done, Posh, can you please rewind?
