We were just sitting here pondering these heels from Chloe and decided that we were at a loss. This is the kind of shoe that really needs a foot in it in order to draw any real conclusions about its look - like a dress on a hanger - but we’re not convinced that a foot would help. We’re pretty sure the issue has to do with the heel - you know how shoedish feels about kitten heels - and this funky ankle-cuffed bondage sandal needs to decide whether it wants a heel or not, because this half-assed, indecisive partial heel is throwing the whole thing off. Thoughts? The CH14262 Multi Leather/Canvas from Chloe is available at Jildor Shoes.

All hail the super platform wedge! Once upon a time, shoedish received a snotty email from a fellow shoe lover and shoe frienemy, who wanted to inform us that a “wedge” was not, in fact, a “platform” as we had categorized said shoe in question. At the time, we had ignored the comment. You say open-toe, I say peep-toe, etc, etc, so on, and so forth. Well, we hardly think that you could miscategorize this. The uber wedge - a wedge platform shoe - is back and in high demand. These wedges make even the shortest of the height challenged masses larger than life. This super cute knotted-vamp super wedge - the Dolce Vita Niko Tubular Wedge Sandals - is one of our favorites of the season. Complete with a metallic knotted tubular straps and a whopping 5.25-inch platform heel, these are divalicious! Amazon-woman wedges not your thing? Try the Dolce Vita Risa, a similar version wedge with a slightly more manageable stacked heel.

The mule is a classic backless shoe design that can be casual, formal, flat or heeled. The mule dates back to Ancient Roman times and was popular in both the 16th and 18th Centuries. By the early 90s, however, the mule was commonly associated with prostitutes. Popularized by Marilyn Monroe in the 50s - she also helped break their poor reputation - the clog has been the feature among many fashion cycles over the past half century. The mule, like most reinterpreted classics, has taken on several shapes and forms over the years, from pointy-toe versions to super stilettos and platforms. This year, expect to see more architecturally unique styles, as well as the clog, which is also coming back with a vengeance this season. We raise our toe boxes to the modern mule. Below are just a few of our favorites:

It’s a sandal! It’s a bootie! It’s…it’s a gladiator-inspired summer sandal cut-out bootie! Whatever it is, we’re digging it. From the Charlie My Love Amen Stud Lace Up Booties featuring a pretty femininity complete with delicate bronze studs and a fun lace detail to the Joie Rock Steady Fringe Suede Booties that are 70s-inspired and reminiscent of outdoor rock concerts and lazy summer days, these summer sandal booties are perfectly awesome. Shoedish gets pretty excited just about every new season, but we must admit that this is a trend we’re really excited about! Check out some of our favorites:
