Now that, my shoe friends, is a vamp bow! Excuse me RSVP, Minnie Mouse called and she says she’d like her headband back now. Is it just us or do these shoes look befitting of Barbie’s foot; a little too plastic? There’s this wild shoe phenomenon going on right now where patent has gone from shiny plastic to gross rubber and these shoes are no exception. There is such a thing as too much and these plastic wedges from RSVP have taken there cue from Antonio Gaudi and then for some unGodly reason pushed it up a notch. We’re not feeling the shoe love, RSVP, and you’re totally ruining our green streak. Thoughts? Opinions?

Hmmm…we’re not sure how we feel about these camouflage platform sandals from Jean Paul Gaultier. Thoughts? Normally we like camouflage and we always love an extreme cut-out sandal, but we’re not sure we’re feeling this camouflage in particular. It looks more like some old faded couch canvas than camouflage to us. On the other hand, we love the oversized buckles and the super sky high heel. Strap-happy and hearty makes for an A+ in shoedish’s book. Hmmmm…what to do; what to think? We’re at a loss. We need help. Anyone want to offer their two cents? Thoughts? Opinions?

‘opinions please’ friday: kors zebra-print

“Let’s talk about sex baby, let’s talk about you and me. Let’s talk abut all the good things and the bad things that may be. Let’s talk about sex.” Shoedish loves animal prints. There is just something so sex and rock n’ roll about them. The best part about having animal print on your shoes is that you can dress up any outfit with a serious pop - less is more - without being dreadfully gaudy. However, these Michael Kors are a hit and miss in shoedish’s animal-print book. It’s as if MK took a page from Jessica Simpson’s cast offs and though, hmmmm…let’s try that! Bad idea. These zebra-print platforms are just, well, not right. The heel is cheap, the front platform is throwing the whole thing off, and that ankle strap isn’t flattering on anyone. We’re not impresed. Thoughts? Opinions?

Capelli flat

Color is a very important part of a shoe, you know, and the color bleed trend can easily be done wrong. Here’s an example of the color bleeding trend gone so wrong. It’s like Barbie got in a fight with Ken and forgot to finish dying her shoes for prom. NOOOOOOOO! Do you see what I mean about the color bleed gone wrong? Is it just me? Maybe this shoe wouldn’t be a shoedish fave had the color been finished - pink is complicated - but the drastic color change is just not working for us. Thoughts? Opinions? Would you buy these pink color bled ballerinas from Capelli NY? Shade shifting, color blocking, and hue bleeding; what’s your favorite new trend?

Report Signature Colw-neck sandals

While shopping for a pair of strappy sandals for a wedding she’ll be in come July, my friend LK, informed me that she couldn’t wear a dress sandal with an ankle strap because it “makes here ankles look fat”. Slingbacks are the little black dress of shoes because they avoid the cut-your-leg-off look and are flattering on everyone and that’s exactly what the new cowl neck shoe trend is aiming to do for the t-strap. Shoedish is trying to decide how we feel about this new sandal look that has been popping up on every runway and shoe warehouse in the shoe nation. We’re all mixed up. While we applaud the effort to make t-straps more todos gente - available to the masses - we’re not sure that this look is working. Thoughts? Opinions? Would you wear these cowl neck sandals from Report Signature?

OPF Prada

Prada has been channeling the Wizard of Oz and its whole crew of too-deep-and-much-too-scary-for-children’s fairy tale stories in its wickedly cool shoe campaign. The classic look of shoes past has been replaced by heel love and the most exotic shapes and prints on the market. Prada’s trip down the rabbit hole was met by the electric Kool Aide acid test and a quick stop back off at the mad hatters tea party. Phew! It’s been quite a trip alright! These gold and black piping platforms have that interestingly placed ankle strap that’s been popping up on a lot of shoes for this fall and shoedish still hasn’t quite jumped on the cut-me-off-so-I’m-real-short train just yet. Thoughts? Opinions?
