The catwalks are afire! It’s that time of year my fashionista females and shoe sluts; time to roll out the summer flare and bring on trendy fall footwear. Check out The Daily Beast’s article on Fall “It” shoes:
Gone are the days of the ‘It’ bag. This fall, fashion’s collective focus has fallen farther south, specifically just below the ankle. (After all, putting your money where your feet are seems a far more practical, and therefore acceptable, form of consumption given the current economic climate.) Meet the new ‘It’ shoes: From sci-fi-inspired statement heels to skyscraper monstrosities that have been buzzed about since they paraded down Fall 2009 catwalks in February, this season’s dominating footwear styles are anything but demure.

You know, we’re really starting to hate Dior. I mean, seriously, is it really fair that the only people who can afford to wear these designs are such a small minority that you could pick them out in a lineup. We were watching E! “Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami” last night and Kim was actually filmed throwing her Christian Louboutin’s and Chanel stilettos into her suitcase. Throwing!!! I pack my $50 Bakers pumps in shoe bags, for shoes sake. Come on! Let the little people have a little designer shoe fun. How much did it really cost to make those pretty shoes, anyway?
Can anyone tell that shoedish is in a very sour mood…Sorry, Dior, you just happened to be in the line of fire.

If you thought it wasn’t possible for Crocs to get any worse, you were wrong. We actually have to laugh when we see all the new designs. The ‘Mammoth’? Seriously? Are they really trying to invoke images of cavemen when it comes to the style of their shoes? The only foot Crocs look remotely cute on are the tiny little peds of babies and young children…but all shoes look cute in miniature. We’ve heard all the arguments for why people love them. “They’re comfortable” seems to lead the charge, but we just have to ask why style must be removed from anything made to be “comfortable”. With all this modern comfort technology, you’d think they’d be able to come up with something devoid of creating cankles. Traditional Crocs are ugly. Period. Adding a shaft and a faux-fur interior is not helping matters. Opinions?

Oooh, you ugly girl! We were about to launch a double barrel, sawed off shotgun, attack on these retro meets astro version boots from 80%20. Um….the truth is we don’t even know what to say. It’s as if the ugliness stripped us of our boldness to create witty exclusions and blatantly mean commentary. What is that? It’s like Tiffany doing Scream (the Jackson video that is) or what would happen if Prince did a music video with the director of Alien III. Are you catching the bad news drift, here? These plastic, er rubber, er patent (??) hidden wedge booties from the company that we once commended for these has lost its damn mind. Of course, that’s just our opinion on the matter. Thoughts?

Now here’s an interesting shoe from Topshop. These Poirot Premium t-straps are garnering mixed emotions here at The Shoe Dish. I think are main problem is the sole. It looks a little too athletic and casual for this shiny dress up shoe. Of course, we can’t really complain about a solid grip. Everyone likes to have something to hold on to and you probably can barely see the teeth of the rubber grips when they’re actually on your feet. Hmm….thoughts? Opinions? Knotted t-bar, funky sport stripe color blocking, and metallic. What’s making it or breaking it for this Fridays ‘Opinions Please’ shoe?

All hail the sandal boot! We’re obsessed with this extreme cut-out sandal boot trend that is sweeping cross the nation. It seems like no style is safe from the reinterpretation that booties bring to the style table and sandals are no exception. Who ever thought we’d be tying together sandals and boots into a synergy of harmonious melody in style utopia. I guess we should be careful throwing that word around because we can hear the projectile vomiting and automatic upchucks from many of our style friends. These sandal boots from Pelle at Topshop have a little bit of every trendy style from the metal metallics and cut-outs to the color blocking and stiletto. We’d love to hear your thoughts and opinions. Do you like this trend? More importantly, do you like this shoe? Thoughts? Opinions?
