We’ve been reporting on the clog trend for quite sometime now and while this isn’t the first season of clogs and reinterpreted clog-inspired footwear, mules, and slides, this season will certainly be its summit. How long they’ll stay there, nobody knows, but one thing is for sure, they’re certainly taking advantage of the spot light. The year of the clog isn’t just about the standard classic clog, after all. This season we’ll be seeing the clog-bottom - a key feature in clog footwear with its wooden platform and open-studding design - on all types of footwear. Here are just a few of the designs we’ve seen so far:
Steven Geraldyn Suede Clog Boots

Stuart Weitzman - Apron (Black Vecchio Nappa w/ Antique Gold) - Footwear

N.Y.L.A. Shonda Clog

Steven Grifin Platform Clogs

Stuart Weitzman - Mcallen (Nero Old West Calf) - Footwear

We reported once already on Leighton Meester and her trusty clog-bottomed sandals from Stuart Weitzman, but since she seems to love her precious kicks so much, we figured we’d let all our shoe girls in on the update. What is it about celebrities and Stuart Weitzman? For as many times as she’s spotted wearing them, we’re pretty sure that Jennifer Aniston owns several pairs of the coveted Stuart Weitzman - Alex (Swamp Crochet) - Footwear
. Now it seems Ms. Meester has caught the Stuart Weitzman bug. The actress was spotted wearing the Stuart Weitzman - Apron (Black Vecchio Nappa w/ Antique Gold) - Footwear
all week; going through airport security at LAX, arriving to the Gossip Girl set in NY, and again shooting a scene for GG. We already know they’re fashionable, but it seems they’re uber functional as well. Better get our hands on these soon.

And the designer shoes are…
The shoe on the right is the Steve Madden Warrick
while the shoe on the left is the Snick Natural Leather
from Jeffrey Campbell. Which would you prefer?

So the military-trend isn’t new for Fall 2010. If you’re thinking ‘been there done that’ think again. This isn’t the military look of seasons past, with the masculine, starched, and headstrong undertones of classic military fashion. Instead, the reinterpreted military trend, takes a more modern look at “military”; understated and subdued. These military looks are more about utilizing the minor details. Rather than recreating the pomp Victorian uniform, the 2010 military trend is about function. Here are just a few of the looks to expect:
Giuseppe Zanotti Lace Up Suede Booties on Platform

Military Ankle Boot from Christian Louboutin
Steve MaddenA-RENA TAUPE MULTI

GUESS by Marciano Women’s Symone Ankle Boot

Lace-up toggle-button wedge boots from Rachel Roy

Joie Refugee

It’s been awhile since we posted a designer shoe challenge, so we though it was time for another battle of the shoes. Which shoe would your prefer? One of these trendy cloggers is from a coveted celebrity designer, while the other is a simple knockoff. Can you spy, with your little eye?

Now that we’ve told you what styles to be looking out for this fall shoe season, we’re here to break it down just a little bit more. For the next few days we’ll bring you some of our favorites from the shoe trends list, from cutouts and clogs to OTK boots and military-inspired. We’ll start this week off with some of our favorite goods from the flannel trend. Here’s a great start for fall; a material that not only looks cool, unique, and uber trendy, but is seasonally appropriate as well, which isn’t always the case when it comes to trends. Here are some for our favorite from the flannel footwear department.

Cute, simple, feminine, and casual flats from Kate Spade - Nicolina (Grey Flannel) - Footwear
.

This flannel peep-toe wedge from Christian Louboutin is the perfect transitional footwear from summer to fall.

Steve Madden does flannel platform-style with the CARYSSA GREY FLANNEL
.

Tory Burch’s famous casual flat design - the Serena Ballerina flat - in all its flannel glory.

Stuart Weitzman - Unibuckle (Gray Flannel) - Footwear
does flannel in an office casual pump.

What would a flannel trend be without a knee-high boot version, like the Blowfish - Hottem (Grey Two-Tone Flannel) - Footwear
.
