This season is the continuation of many trends from last season. Short boots, particularly ankle boots and booties, along with platforms and cutouts return to revive their role of trend star. We’ll also be seeing the OTK boot in all its glory (if you haven’t purchased the design yet, now is the time) and, of course, the wedge is still HOT! As far as new trends for fall, we’re super psyched about flannel, a material that is not only unique and flattering, but very seasonal appropriate. Feminine accents, like lace-embellished oxfords, as well as wedges, platforms, cutouts, and clog-bottomed footwear will accent styles across the board and possibly our most favorite new fall trend of all; military-inspired footwear. From casual desert boots to novelty service badge-adorned dress heels, the military look will be everywhere.

Clogs - Snick Natural Leather
from Jeffrey Campbell.

Flannel - Button Flannel Bootie from Christian Louboutin
Military-inspired - You can’t get much more military than these military badge platform sandals from Gianmarco Lorenzi.

Clog-bottomed footwear - Short clog-bottomed boot from Free People

Cutouts - Diego Dolcini Collage cut-out booties

OTK Boots - Hollywood Trading Company Stud Over The Knee Boots

Is it just us or do these designer sandals from Chloe look oddly like classic girls buckle sandals? I swear I owned a pair of these sandals in black when I was four. They’re sort of straddling a very thin line between matronly and childish. Yet - yes there is a yet - we think we maybe, kind of, a little bit, might…like them(?) It’s that feeling we had when we saw Inception. When people asked what we thought, we weren’t really sure. “We think we liked it?” We’re definitely not liking them enough to pay that bizarro designer price tag…even if they are half off. The t-strap buckle sandal from Chloe is available, on sale, at Barneys.

Now here is a dress sandal that has all the things you want as far as trends and fashion stars are concerned with the promise of a future. If you’re going to commit to an expensive pairs of shoes, you better find ones that can stand the test of time, after all. These Michael Kors - MK14041 (3-Nero) - Footwear
sandals are pretty evergreen. Black, patent, and strappy, they could pair with just about any LBD and we all know that’s not going anywhere. The platform sole and oversized hardware are a little “of the moment”, but they’re subtle enough that they won’t cause to much commotion in the fashion rewind of 2030. They’re currently half off at Zappos.com
; a perfect time to make that trendy classic purchase!

The zipper and chain trend is everywhere these days, from necklaces and cuff bracelets to blouse necklines and the embellishment of shoes and the detail doesn’t seem to have a stopping point. Shoedish, herself, is a fan of the decoration. We have a few heels - a chain-embellished pair of wedges we bought for our birthday - and a very cute shirt with a zippered neckline, but none of those trendy articles compare to these perfectly awesome chain-piped thong sandals from Giuseppe Zanotti. Sometimes we hate the designer for making so many shoes that we covet and desire. It’s really, really unfair! These gold-tone chain trim sandals from the designer label have all the glam and bling we love about this hearty metal trend with a touch of that sophistication only GZ could really pull off.

This weekend, shoedish was taken aback when we spotted a wall display the size of an olympic-size swimming pool covered in articles of hot pink clothing. Everything from sequined mini skirts to casual tank tops were on display. It was as if we’d walked into the dressing rooms of the cast of Legally Blonde; pink projectile vomit. What’s strange is that hot pink isn’t the color of the season. Was it all just a really bad dream? Okay, so hot pink isn’t all bad, but this season you can skip the hot neon bath circa 1980s and opt for a more mellow shade of pink. Hot pinks muted kid sister is making pink a much more wearable color, no matter the nostalgic undertones, your age, or skin tone. Try one of these classic pinks for fall and see where the outfit takes you.

Just a little flush for your feet. The Caryssa - Blush
platform pumps from Jessica Simpson are available at Heels.com.

Even trendy booties, like these Betsey Johnson Niles
come in this seasons baby pinks.

Even toning footwear has jumped aboard the baby pink - flamingo in this case - trend. Try the FitFlop Women’s Walkstar 3 Thong Sandal

Not your grandma’s rose colored glasses. Sudoku Sandal - Rose
from Chinese Laundry.

Boat shoes and pink shoes, the perfect combination. Sperry Top-Sider Women’s Angelfish Boat Shoe

Cole Haan - Air Elly Criss Cross (Crystal Pink Patent/Cork) - Footwear

Shoedish came across these shoes while out and about this weekend and had to take a second look. We normally would have kept on walking, but they were being modelled on a manequin, which allowed us to see their true colors. These are the kind of shoes that look really bad in the box and really cool on a foot; just another reason that you can’t judge a book by its cover. Anyhow, we saw them in all there shining glory and had to get our hands on a pair…The store was sold out, but no matter, because we found them online instead! Between the cutouts, full vamp lacing, and mini wedge, there’s a whole lot to love, Just wait ‘til you see it on your foot! The DV by Dolce Vita Women’s Reno 2 Sandal
is available at www.endless.com
for just $47. Also available in grey, silver, white, and brown.
