All this news of economic strife, small holiday budgets, and store after corporation after business filing for bankruptcy doesn’t give much hope for the holiday shopping season, but shoedish is here to bring you all the goods none-the-less. Last Thursday we showed you some great holiday picks for your Christmas homecoming and holiday vacations with some comfortable, chic, and trendy boots. Today, we’re moving on to one of shoedish’s favorite shoe genre’s, the holiday dress shoes. What’s great about the holiday dress shoe is that it’s made to sparkle and shine and with so many events and celebrations going on over the next 2 months, you have a great way to rationalize the purchasing of new shoes. Yay for your office Christmas party and another New Year! Here’s shoedish’s picks for the perfect holiday dress shoes!
*Featured shoes available from Charles David, Pura Lopez, Karen Millen, Betsey Johnson, Pout Premium, Marciano, and BCBGirls.

And we’re always complaining about how hard it is to walk in a peeked-toe. If you’ve ever warn flippers on land, than you know all about that awful duck or penguin waddle you get when sliding across the beach. Now, take that image and add a heel. We won’t pretend to get the irony behind these awfully wacky heels - a protest for global warming, perhaps - but we would like to mention that these do exist, for sale, and people have actually walked runways in and purchased them. Novelty obsession is the only explanation and yet, somehow, not an excuse. These flipper heels first graced the catwalks in 2002, when Australian footwear designer, Lisa Carney, had them on display in her Mercedes-Benz Fashion Show, but the story was repeated in 2007 when Jean Paul Gaultier sent them swimming down his own catwalk. How bizarre…wacky, tacky, and true!
*On a wholly separate note, shoedish stumbled across this really great blog today, while searching for a stockist for these High Tide Heels. While it has absolutely no relation to shoes, we wanted to share anyway. Visit seawayblog for more fun!

Did we ever tell you about our problem with obsession? Okay, so you know about the shoe thing, but we also suffer from brand obsession. For example, if we begin to like a certain designer and their collection is seamlessly flawless than we can’t help but obsess over them…like, for months. It’s happened with Giuseppe Zanotti, Jenne O, Christian Louboutin, Betsey Johnson, Christian Dior, and Eley Kishimoto, among others and now it’s happening with L.A.M.B. We’re totally shoe stocking the brand and if they don’t stop leading us on with designs like these two-tone, pebble-grain, open-toe stilettos we might be involved in a crime of passion. Complete with beaded-tip laces and a 5-inch heel, these sexy oxford reinterpretations are worthy of obsession.

Can we please talk about how freakin’ cute this cutout shoetie from Vince Camuto is? Anyone? This season it’s all about the snakeskin and these faux snake-print peep-toe cutout shoeties are the perfect pop to any outfit. Too cold for extreme cutouts and peep-toes? Pair these yummy bright pumps with a pair of opaque tights and you’ll be sitting pretty in trend and warmth. We did a little sale search to see where you can get these beauties the cheapest and discovered that they’re on sale at Nordstroms for $64. Not all colors are available in both colors, but if you’re aiming for the black and grey combo, you’ll be in for a sale treat. They’re also available at Shop.com, but Zappos is the cheapest if you’re looking for all sizes in the yellow version.

There’s no shoe quite like a Christian Louboutin shoe and this pretty, feminine, red bow-vamp, slingback is only one example of that coveted Louboutin fantasy. These pumps make us dream in Christmas - shoedish loves the holidays - and all the pretty colors of winter. Cold weather parties, whether they be your companies Christmas party or your best friends New Year’s bash, beg for a shoe like this. What we love about these feminine heels is the color contrast of the red tones. This is color blocking for the style elite. Christian Louboutin has stepped away from stacked heel, hidden platform, peep-toes for a moment to channel the sophisticated style of Kate Spade and created a lovely little red pump that will transcend the ages. A classic? Might we be so bold?
